I was thinking last night about pocket pieces. Assumptively, one could rub their thumb over the reverse of a morgan for years and wear it near flat while the obverse stays pretty nice. Does anyone have any of these oddly worn coins?
I had a Spanish coin that was UNC PL on one side and VF on the other. Will post it here if I find it.
oh, and while I'm here does my new profile pic make people think I'm a jerk? lol maybe my weird smiling pic was better
I don't have anything modern with uneven wear that I can think of at the moment. However, in my opinion, this sestertius might fit the bill, but comparing ancient and modern coins is almost like comparing apples and oranges. Faustina I (Senior) AE Sestertius A.D. 150-161 Obverse: DIVA FAVSTINA, draped bust right, hair coiled on top of head Reverse: CERES, Ceres standing left, holding corn-ears and long, vertical torch; S-C across fields Rome Mint RIC 1128; Sear 4621.
Lol, thanks. if you didn't know it is from television. i was called a conspiracy theorist so I thought I'd have a change for a couple days. I realized profile photos make a difference on the mood of the message in my mind. 'll change it in not too long now.
A conspiracy theorist? I don't even want to know who flaked out. I know this one is from TV but it just looks weird to me. My is from the Appalachian Trail. I love to hike but I'm now afraid that's all over due to my knees. I sure did a lot of walking when I was younger.
Your picture certainly is nice. Appalachia is cool. I used to do some hiking and things but since I stopped playing hockey my knees have only gotten more stiff and painful. I am doing physical therapy so my insurance would cover a surgical procedure in my left knee, maybe even two. One for a spiky bone growth above my knee (on the site of a heavy impact from years before, the bone thickened because of the stress I put on it or whatever) hockey killed my knees, and after my big head injury, I just can't anymore. I hope I begin feeling better so I can enjoy life again but I am not so sure. I hope you get some of that ability back. it really is quite tough.
This is slightly more worn on one side more than the other. It was a pocket piece of my Wife's Grandfather and Father, both in the merchant navy. The coin travelled over 100,000 nautical miles in about 60 years. I now have it in my pocket, adding to it's mileage
