take the time to thank all the U. S. Veterans on the forum & around the world for a job well done & the sacrifices they've had to make to keep this Country safe . Its interesting that in the next few years that there will be several new commemorative U. S. Coins comming out to honor our Veterans. Next year the 2010 Disabled American Veterans coins will come out & in 2011 there will be two Comm. coins, The Army Comm. coin & the Medal of Honor coins will come out & in 2012 the U. S. Army Infantry Comm. coin will be comming out , lots of great coins I look forward to collecting :thumb:

Do we have any Vets in here?
I would assume some of us are.

I put three years in the Army, but because of the time period and my MOS none of it was in combat.

I am a veteran as are a number of others in my family. Another hobby is helping families research their veterans history, which I tie into my woodworking hobby. I have made these display cases for vets families.

This one documents my fathers service as a B-26 gunner in the European Theatre during WWII.

Over here in the UK we call it Remembrance Day a day were we remember all those who fell in the service of there country. The Queen lays a wreath at the Cenotaph on the nearest sunday to the 11th and there is a march past by Vetrans from all branches of the services as well as those civilian sevices that are involved in conflicts such as the Merchant Navy, Transport pilots, Police, Fire service, Ambulance service etc
This morning at 11 oClock many in the country observed 1 minuets silence in memory of the fallen.

For any one who would like to see Sundays service here is a link

Just put my flag out and came back in to put on my Vet Day cap.

Now, this cap retired in '74 and has some blood sweat & tears along with a little spit on it.

I guess we would not be here if we had never been there.

Thank you for all your support and please know freedom is not free.

My father was a SeaBee - 11th Special Construction Battalion. He was inducted into the US Navy on Feb 16th, 1943 and received his Honorable Discharge on April 28th, 1945. His battalion's tour included New Caledonia, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa.

The SeaBees hit the beach second only to The Marines. They saw things no one should ever see.

    Peace be with you, dad.
