Just wanted to share.. This is my 2nd set.. I have worked hard to keep the same or near same grade for this set.. It Looks great!! Only missing 3!! I added the link in case the photos a bad... http://www.flickr.com/photos/latherland/4087710665/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/latherland/4088471164/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/latherland/4088473030/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/latherland/4088474944/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/latherland/4087716963/in/photostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/latherland/4087717429/in/photostream/
Those three will be killing me till I get them too.. And will probably cause my Divorce! Thinking About selling my LP1 LP2 LP3 Boxes just to get the 14D or '22 no D in the grades I need for this set.. My other set I was lucky and inherited.. But this set is all my work.. I wish I could show in the pictures how nice these are..
you're going to try to add a 14-D, and 09-S VDB, and a 22 No-D to that set???? You'd best be selling an awful lot of LP1s,2s and 3s!!!
Wow, good job! that's a tough set to put together! How are your early 20's? The real weak strike ones. I love seeing those with nice detail!
Oh no.. I have several boxes.. and at Ebay rates.. I bet I could buy ONE coin (22noD or 14D) in the grade I want.. not the '09sVDB.. But I bet I could find the '14d or 22 for a couple hundred.. Holes!! They haunt me!
I actually have one ( a 14-D) in about that grade. (Mine's F-15) Yes, it's an easy one to find, but a bit pricey.
It won't do your holes much good unless you break them out, but I would highly recommend that you buy those last 3 slabbed. Those are definitely the 3 Lincolns that are counterfeited. BTW, with a little patients, you can probably get them cheaper on Heritage.
The '21s and 22D '23S are great.. I am very pleased with this set.. This is the first time I have shown anyone .. but my wife who thinks I am nuts.. and my daughter who LOVES them as much as me... YEA!
I have owned two of the 3 keys. The 14-D is F-15 and the 22 No-D XF-40. I have never owned an 09-S VDB, but I have always wanted to. I hope I get around to it before I run out of coin collecting time.
Congrats and good luck getting the last 3. As noted earlier though it would be a good idea to get those slabbed. I just bought and put copies into those holes. Slabs stay locked away.
Great set there. I do have a little comment to make though. The folders you use should now be replaced with Albums. Those are the ones where you can see both sides of the coins. I really don't like the Dansco or Littleton Ones for Lincoln Cents though. Whitman being blue makes those Copper coins stand out. Just my 2 CENTS. The problem with those folders is the manufacturing process. The paper is layed out, glue is washed over the entire sheets, slotted cardboard is layed out over that. Now the rear of those slots is full of this glue but since dry usually has little effect on coins. If in a damp area that glue absorbs some of the moisture and sticks to the rear of the coins. Many kids use that as a trick to hold in well worn coins by spitting on the rear of the coins and then the glue holds them in place. Since your now putting together a rather expensive few sets, I really think you should transfer the into Albums. Your kids will like the ability to see both sides too.
