Madras Presidency - X Cash, 1808

1808 EIC XX Cash - Madras Presidency. Is that close enough?

 

So I guess mine is really Madras, not Bengal? I tagged it a quite a while ago.

Edit; I see it is Madras. Will edit my post to reflect correct identification.

 

I love these old Indian coins with all the UFO scripts, etc. I have to make detailed labels for each one, as there is no way I could remember what they are. I keep finding errors in my record keeping, so that gives me job security in correcting and updating all this cumbersome inventory system. I did some checking and see both are Madras Presidency, Soho Mint.

Here is an interesting pair. Partabgarh, AH 1236-RY 45, 1821 AD, Dulep Singh, Devgadh mint, AR 1/2 and 1/4 rupee

Those round ones are neat. 1908 NL 5 cents

 

Sorry. I think I messed up the sequence here confusing things. I noticed that I posted a Netherlands 5 Cent in response to your VOC in error. Then I edited to correct to a VOC not noticing you posted a Netherlands 5 cent.

So... I'll post that 5 cent again and we can move on.

Netherlands - 5 cents, 1907. I like the look of this coin but thought I read somewhere that they were disliked by the population at the time.

 

You did OK. Maybe people liked the square ones better? 1913 NL 5 cents

That is a trcky one. I think those 1943 pieces were struck for use in Curacao. The homeland was under occupation and were using these ugly looking zinc issues.
