is this error valuable above the simple value of a 1922-D?

the lower bit is clearly some machining metal scrap that got struck into the coin, but the two areas of extra metal near the top Im not clear what caused those.... interesting and Im wondering how much value added the error(s) bring? cheers, dc

First you should post both sides of the coin when you are looking for opinions. Second, I think what you are seeing is post mint damage. Metal has been pushed up on the surfaces.

 

i can do that, but the Obv is very normal.

 

I agree damaged not an error but still a 22D.

 

But, what would be that bit of metal at 6pm on Rev then?

Impurities in the alloy mix. Denver had problems when making these.

 

Even for a "normal" 1922 D both side photos would go a long way.

 

I think possibly a combination of damage and a foreign substance stuck to the coin. The fact they are raised areas IN THE FIELD, should tell you something.
