With all respect to differing opinions, et al, I absolutely DO think it's abhorrent...in short, it stinks. While I very much appreciate art/artistic skills, etc., I will NOT support or cave to...either by purchasing, promoting, soliciting or otherwise...the altering, colorizing and/or otherwise destruction of U.S. coins from their original and intended image, shape, color and use. Furthermore, I do not think such actions or materials are appropriate as/for any reasonable aspect of coin collecting or numismatics, and therefore does not belong on Coin Talk. Have a nice day.

Very artistic but I would rather it be made with bullion instead of American coinage.

They should use the fakes comming out of China for these. Not many people would know the difference and it would still look great.

90% silver? Several aren't, so wouldn't sound so good, IMHO.

The fakes aren’t silver though so they wouldn’t have that lovely silver ring.

The 69 and 70 JFKs are only 40% silver...

I know I was talking about the Morgan & Peace Dollar ones.

I just shared the JFK 40% ones because I thought they were less likely to anger people since JFK 40% half dollars can be bought by the roll in BU condition.

Whereas a lot of people get angry when even common Morgan & Peace Dollars are intentionally damaged for any reason.

I’m talking about the larger Morgan & Peace Dollar bells.

    Both are 90% fine silver.

Do you want the link? All the bells are priced differently based on which coins are used.

A larger bell made of a 90% silver 1921 Morgan Dollar is more expensive than a smaller bell made of a 40% 1969 silver JFK Half Dollar.

Aren’t the fakes usually made of base metals? Isn’t that why a magnet test is used?

If so it wouldn’t have that same beautiful silver ring that people love.

I think genuine common coins in lower grades are the best way to go.

No one should mind someone buying junk silver from a dealer and crafting a bell from it since junk silver is melted regularly.

My LCS actually just took $1,000 face value of pre-65 Washington quarters and 40% JFK Halves to the refinery because they had too much and no one was buying it.

Although they did cherry pick the best ones to keep for the shop while sending the worst cull stuff for melting.

If there was a big enough market I am sure the Chinese could find a metal mix that would ring like a bell.

Mountain Man, thanks for posting that video. Not hard to make once you have the correct tools! But way more labor than I am willing to do.
