Can the 4 2009 lincoln pennies ever really be worth anything when there is obviously about umpteen thousand unopened boxes of them selling on ebay? About 50% of these coins will probably remain uncirculated. Doesn't sound like a rarity to me.

Sure the slab MS69 and MS70 scam will make some money for a while but I pity people holding those in about 10 years.

I'd be looking for pristine coins in 10 years. From what I've seen this year there's a good chance that many of the rolled Lincolns will have black spots and such. I've only seen about 10 of the new Lincolns hit the register at work. All looked UNC and all but two already had small black spots on them.

I think in a few years the L4 will be no where near what it is selling for right now. Just too many.

My guess is that people are searching the boxes for the ms68 and spending the the other 2499 coins.

ANY unspotted 2009's whether Proof or Unc. will always be in short demand, I've never seen such poorly minted stuff!! I just changed out all 4 pennies in my C & C set due to red spots on all of them, cost me a proof set but it was worth it to have something nice to show around!
