I sent in a 1995 S Olympics half dollar basketball comm. When NGC sent it back it was graded as PF 69 ULTRA CAMEO, that was ok, but it is clearly a basketball coin and the coin is labeled a baseball comm. Should I call NGC or is it worth more money to sell/trade???.

I don't know if there's a market for TPG foul-ups, but it's likely worth something extra to someone...I would keep it. You can probably send it back to them at anytime for a correction since they're the...

Like Yakpoo said, it is probably worth something to someone. If marketed correctly on ebay, you will get more than what it is worth. People will pay for anything. Good luck.

I know a person that just sends them back and NGC corrects them. He says its a hassle.

I have 4 or 5 coins that NGC or one of its sister company's got wrong. All slabbed with the wrong atribution on the slab.

Not as rare as I thought when I found the first one.

I saw one NGC slabbed coin for auction at Heritage which said slab stated it was a certain coin yet Heritage actually pointed out that the slab was wrong and Heritage correctly marketed the coin (in the slab which stated the coin incorrectly).

When I go to the Houston coin show in December I'll show it around and see what I can trade/sell it for. I sell/buy coins on Ebay as a hobby, but really dont know how to market this one.

If you had something like a 1987 US Constitution Bicentennial $5 Gold coin and NGC slabbed it as a 1997 Jackie Robinson $5 gold coin...would they have to guarantee it as such? ...just wondering

You hold your breath waiting on that to happen :D

That'll happen about the same time that PCGS agrees to give me $500 for this $20 coin.

Wow I would not think a morgan could be mistaken for a peace coin, Thats just neat to show other collectors.

That's the point, it cannot be mistaken for one. It is a label error only, not a mistake made by the graders. All such things are label errors. And the TPG's will correct them if you send them in.

That is a neat label error. I would buy that coin just for the error. :D

    Hey, Camaro:
what do you hink of this one?

It is the very rare 1880 S Proof Roosevelt dime!

And it is also a sample slab!

How often do you see an error sample slab!

I don't interpret this as an error. They graded it correctly.... so they just didn't spell out basketball commem on the label?

To be valuable as a collectible, IMHO, the error would have to be a big mistake, like labeling it as a one cent coin or something.... or even a wrong mintmark. Simply not listing a commem is not interesting to me, but it might be for somebody else. Everything has a market.

    marketing on eBay

    I'm a marketing genius:

Sell it on eBay, and market it as the "Michael Jordan" coin -- it always knew it was basketball, but had to try baseball anyway.

That is an interesting slab too...but I really like the one GD posted. Since I collect Morgan and Peace Dollars, I think it would be an interesting piece.

That one was kinda hard to miss Jim

It was on a bid board at one of the local shops some years ago. I bid $35 cuz I wanted it. Nobody else even bid after that.
