It's a gimmick to help the hucksters sell some coins for more money. You have no way of knowing if a coin is the 1st to be struck or the 100,000th to be struck.

to get "first strike" it's usually a 30 days from the coins release window of time, that it must be postmarked to the 3rd party grader for grading.
There's also a $18 fee for it. Any coins submitted in that window of time, paying for the fee to do it, get the designation on the slab. whether it's truly the first strike off a die pair, or the last strike off a die pair.

like was said there's no way of knowing a true first strike from the 800th strike, or the 8000th strike or the 80,000th strike. it's a nonsense marketing gimmick, but it works.

NGC does first releases, and early releases, it's the same game by a different name.

It's just a marketing ploy to get more money for the coin.

i joined a facebook group the other day for CRH and almost EVERY post was people bragging that they got one of the first strikes.

I promptly left. After giving them my opinion on how much of a money grab it is. These people say they are investing in the silver market, but then buy MS70 ASEs with first strike labels at a stupid premium.

I got some hateful comments but I hope someone took it seriously, investing in silver with graded bullion is absolutely stupid

getting? It SHOULDN'T take a genius to figure it out but apparently it does.
I've never bought a slabbed ASE. Don't ever plan on it, especially with the stupid first strike label and all the other crap they put on.

Only special slab I care for are the PCGS gold shield and the new NFC chips they stuck in there. I'm curious to try it out, haven't had the chance to try one yet.

I only meant that you still have lots to learn. Nothing negative meant. What you stated is common sense, at least to me.

this is America, people can't figure out it's bad to eat tide pods and you expect them to be able to figure out the slab and the label won't help them with their bullion when it comes to melt value?

We live in the dumbest point in American history, the stupidity isn't ending anytime soon.

Morgandude11 As long as it's Silver, I'm listening

It is a sucker ploy to get some gullible collectors to buy more than one version of the same coin.

It still wouldn’t convince many people. These labels have spread so far and wide that the genie can’t be put back in the bottle.
