    Great thread, the below are the glory days, best of times and end of Roma.

    Roman Republican Denarius Crawford 198/1 156-155 B.C.
    Helmeted head of Roma right; X (mark of value) to left.

    Obviously, I bought the coin 99% for the reverse. I no longer mind the obverse, though!

    Thank you. I really enjoy it also. I believe it is the First silver series of coin minted at the Rome Mint.

    Anonymous. Ca. 235-231 BC. Æ Half-Litra (12mm, 1.37 g, 7h). Rome mint.

    Obverse: Head of Roma or Minerva(?) right, wearing Phrygian helmet.

    Reverse: Dog standing right, left forepaw raised in pointing stance; ROMA in exergue.

    Reference: Crawford 26/4.

    Plenty of Dioscuri, but no L. Cupiennius yet, so I'll post this one. Minted one year before the utter destruction of Carthage.
