While on the subject of W quarters, why do American Memorial Park sell for more than others? They're all a mintage of 2,000,000 aren't they?
A couple reasons, but mostly it's supply and demand. on ebay the other 4 designs maintain 150 to 400 listings at any given time, for whatever the reason, American Memorial Park, I've never seen it over 50 at one time, graded or raw, although I don't check it every day either anymore, but it's always much much lower than the other 4 designs as far as what's available for sale. Bad distribution? Armored carriers buried the majority of them under other shipments? It was released with Lowell because Lowell fell behind, so the release period was cut in half, and half of it was for Lowell, the other half for AMP. I'm gonna now fall into the "too much info category" but I was paying extreme attention to this all in 2019 with the W quarters. For Lowell and AMP Ws Lowell Released on April 1st in AMP rolls, then the AMP Ws quarters released in AMP rolls on the 2nd deliveries. It's a lot of the same states... on lowell W, it was 24 states, on AMP it was 28 states, But many got lowell and sent them out to banks and then two weeks or later got AMP, and possibly those are buried in a lot of Armored carrier warehouses, at least in my opinion and never went out the door. As far as where: The April 1 coin destinations were: Colorado Denver Florida Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, Pensacola Georgia Atlanta Illinois Chicago Indiana Indianapolis Kentucky Louisville Louisiana Shreveport Massachusetts Boston Maryland Baltimore, Beltsville Michigan Detroit Minnesota Minneapolis Mississippi Jackson Missouri Kansas City, St. Louis Montana Helena New Mexico Albuquerque New York New York City North Carolina Charlotte Ohio Cincinnati, Tallmadge Pennsylvania Pittsburgh Tennessee Memphis, Nashville Texas Dallas, Houston, San Antonio Utah Salt Lake City Virginia Richmond Washington Seattle For the remainder of AMP deliveries, destination locations were: Alabama Birmingham Arizona Phoenix California Los Angeles, Oakland, Ontario, Colorado Denver Florida Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, Pensacola Georgia Atlanta Illinois Chicago Indiana Indianapolis Iowa Davenport, Des Moines Kentucky Louisville Louisiana New Orleans, Shreveport Massachusetts Boston Maryland Baltimore, Beltsville, Nottingham Michigan Detroit Minnesota Minneapolis Mississippi Jackson Missouri Kansas City, St. Louis Nebraska Omaha Nevada Las Vegas New Mexico Albuquerque New York New York City North Carolina Charlotte, Morrisville Ohio Cincinnati, Tallmadge Pennsylvania Pittsburgh Tennessee Memphis, Nashville Texas Houston, San Antonio Virginia Richmond Wisconsin Milwaukee anyways that's my long winded theory on why AMP W is more expensive than the rest, it's for sale 3x-8x less than the other 4 designs, and I think somewhere out there there's boxes still sitting there at armored carriers buried under other coin. if you are in one of those states noted on the 2nd half list and near one of those cities, it wouldn't hurt to go and order a box of quarters and see what you get. I think they just shelved the 2nd ballistic bag pallet in that set of deliveries for AMP in a lot of cases, and never dug into them and likely 60% of the AMP Ws of the 2 million are sitting there waiting to get out to circulation still.
