(Poll) Thoughts on this 1976 D Type 1 Eisenhower Dollar

Now that CT is back up and running after a couple day hiatus, I'd like some opinions on this 1976 D T1 Ike Dollar. Just pulled it from the Mint Cello (as evidenced by the discoloration on the reverse) and I have to say, the obverse is the cleanest I've ever seen from a raw Ike. Apart from a couple small hits in the prime focal area (because, of course) and a few marks just behind his eye...man...is this a clean obverse.

Note: the line on the bottom right is actually a die scratch, not damage.

Note: I added two more sets of images, just for fun...I don't know if they add anything extra, just honestly felt like taking a couple more sets of images.

The reverse, however, is a different story. Multiple hard hits on the moon and other places. My opinion (FWIW) would be that the obverse would be a 66+ with a slight chance at 67, but the reverse...like maybe a 64?

Note: I'm comparing to the images over at the PCGS Photograde, which frankly were a bit surprising - as in, I expected 65 to look a lot cleaner than they did, same with 66. I don't really think my coin is comparable to the 67's, especially with the aforementioned marks, after checking it again.

So, my question is this:

What do you think this coin would fall on the grading scale, were it to be sent in...

Note: I kind of think it would stand a good chance of getting a 66. At least a 65+.

I think 65 based upon image set #2.

 

Obv 66, rev 64+
Overall 65+

 

The obverse is terrific. It is a 65+. Unfortunately, the reverse is in the 63-64 range, limiting the coin to 64. Nice coin, but the reverse is limiting. Zero chance at a 66 grade.I would say 64+ at most.

 

That's one of my all-time "bummers" about finding a coin with a great obverse...and a jacked-up reverse. You get all excited...and then the disappointment when you see the heinous hits on the back.

I still think this is one of those instances I was mentioning to @Morgandude11 the other day in his GTG post - where the lighting causes hits to look a LOT more apparent than they are in hand.

I will (very politely) disagree that this coin doesn't go anywhere near as low as a 63 if sent in...except I happen to have an NGC MS65 on hand that is (to be perfectly frank) utter garbage compared to this coin. I think the marks on the 65 are smaller, but there are a ton more of them. The luster isn't even comparable.

Knowing that it's kind of a calculated risk we take when sending coins in anyway (our responsibility is choosing coins worthy of sending in, but out of our control is whether the graders will be generally accurate, or lenient, or very strict?)

...and that the 65 could also be overgraded...although, frankly, it looks maybe low-end comparable to the examples on Photograde.

I think it will be fun to send this in anyway with my membership credit group. I've been hemming/hawing about whether to send in a batch of US coins or World Coins or a bulk submission of Jeffersons I've had for too long or a bulk submission of Franklins I've also had for too long...

I do sincerely appreciate the feedback and opinions. Always good to get better at grading.
