From the Heritage auction Thursday night--I think it is Uber Kool! It sold for $2530 in 2005 and I just got it for $ 1840. 1796 1C Liberty Cap--Double Struck, Flipover--Good 6 NGC. S-82, B-3, High R.4. Close date, leaf touches F in OF. This large cent was initially struck approximately 10% off center toward 11 o'clock. The error was detected by mint personnel, and the piece was sent through the dies a second time, this time properly centered.
One of my latest. 57-D PCGS MS64. The pic is not good at all, but it's the best I could do with what I had at the moment. Guy~
Finally found a 1864 Proof Large Motto two cent I could afford. :smile The Small Motto is not even a question for me, just too much money. This has a planchet flaw, a poor alloy mix that shows a streak from 7:00 to 9:00 on the obverse. With a total mintage of 100 (both large and small motto) these are few and far between.
Ugliest gold coin ever minted? Lacks imagination if you ask me, but it was a 'buy it now'....so I did. Got the set for a hundred+ under melt. Nightowl
Hi ! Penny Lady, I have a few Indians that look like the last image you posted. I thought they were cleaned in some solutuion that made them have this surface condition.
Not to knock your coin, but I can't imagine anyone spending $5K on a 2 year old coin when they could buy a Seated Liberty Proof Dollar and still have money left over to buy other stuff. If you can get half of that for your coin, more power to you. Good luck with it.
I bought it mostly to flip it. It was in a local auction and no one else seemed to know the crazy valuation of this coin at the time so I got it very very cheap. Sold it on eBay last month for just under $2500. With the pressuring of a few dealers PCGS had dropped the Guide value of this particular coin substantially in the past 2 months from $5000, down to $4600, then down to $4000 and now down to $3000 (probably based on my eBay sale as no others have been selling). I was happy to make a few bucks on it and to pass it to someone so they could be near the top of the Registry, but I agree with you that there are tons of other coins that I'd rather have with that money than a 2 year old prez buck!
