The first coin looks very clean, I like the toning, and my guess is a 65, I wouldn't be surprised with a 66 though. The bottom coin doesn't look right to me, the eye and the mouth look wrong, and it looks like there's some unnatural color on the reverse right under America. So with all that my guess is the second coin is a counterfeit.

Well in that hypothetical situation, I think the coin would come back in a genuine holder, because of questionable color.

Top is O-106a, bottom is 112, not as sure about the bottom. As for grade way out of my league, I wonder about the bottome one, it almost looks polished, but as a novice I will admit I have not seen two that look this nice before

im glad people think its fake, i paid big $$$ for this and every dealer that has seen it says its amazing. but maybey artificially toned. but i belive 65+ details...

and if your all thinking its fake its because its too nice....

keep giving me other input though, it will be funny to see who is right when it gets back from NGC...

does the luster cartwheel on the bottom one?

does it seem to glow, and when you close your eyes after looking at it, can you still see it? (haha, if the top is a 65, the bottom might be a 68

A beautiful coin, obviously it never worked a day in its life, since it was released from the mint,

I would guess that a coin like that could cost the equivalent of a good house. Is it considered bad form to ask where you acquired it?

old collection of halfes, i didnt know i had one that nice. the highest is in 67 and its $50,000. If mine were 67 or the almighty 68, i would be the luckiest man in the world...

the crazy part of this is i know its real, but i dont know if it has been cleaned or artificially toned

I would not say it is a fake, but I will say I never saw one that looked quite like that, does not mean I said fake, sort of hard to put into words.

Maybe ngc will put a first strike designation on it?

I do not know how I could ever make a deal like that, what with the drool getting the checkbook all wet... or I could not talk with my jaw dropped down to my waist

Like i said we will see in a little while, but i agree... I dont see why someone whould clean or "polish" this, it would make the details wear off more. And there are no hairlines anywhere...

im just praying, there is not a 68 in existence, so how much would that be worth?

I am far far from an expert on these, but my first impression is that the bottom coin is both real and cleaned - probably dipped. It also is not as nice as the top one. Therefore I would call it a 64.

You could get enough dollars for that if it was a 68 to burn a wet mule!
