Got one box of pennies to start, this is what I've found so far... 20210315_185006.jpg 2 1916-s, a 1919-s, and the rest 1948 and newer, several of them have some decent luster still, pretty happy about that 20210315_185013.jpg

    Finding a 1916 S in circulation is a tough find...and you found 2! 1919 S also a fun find!!

Yeah, they're not in very good condition but I'm still happy about the dates! It's funny, I've found more 1919-s wheats in rolls than any other pre-30's wheats, not sure exactly why... but I'm not complaining :)

That seems about right (1919S). I think that was more common for me as well. Are you building a CRH Circulation Set of Lincolns? I have a number that are less than 'appealing' in my set, but if you are ever curious about how close you'll ever come to a complete set, unappealing works if it fills a spot!

Yes I am working on a CRH circulation set, and I'm totally the same way! I have more than a couple poor "fillers" that I'm going to upgrade at some point but it's so much better than having a hole!!:D

I'm working on my set also,I don't think I'm going to find a 09,s/09v.d.b and S/but it might happen the fact that i found that indian a bit ago was just dumb luck:):).

Lightening strikes occasionally, but to build a Lincoln set, it would have to strike you dozens of times. Not likely, but with that in mind, the challenge of putting together a circulation set as far as possible...worth the trip!! Build a separate set with items from the LCS and have them both. Fun when you put the finishing touches on the Lincolns!!

I think I'm about 80% finished with mine, mostly just key dates left to find, although I did find a 1924-d and a 1922-d in rolls! Got really lucky there :)

Those are good finds! I've only heard of one other finding a 1924-D during a CRH event, and by it's condition, it was probably a liberated coin. I've not heard anyone catching a 1922-D though.

Not too shabby! I can't remember a time when I had a box that had that many wheat cents in it. Congrats on the find!

the 1924-d and 1922-d were found several boxes and months apart, not even close to each other but still got really lucky!

yeah, both of them are in pretty poor condition, the 1924-d date is just barely legible, I still got really excited when I saw it staring up at me from the pile tho! :)

WTG! I'm thinking of opening up a new bank acct for just that reason-for variety in the supply of penny boxes. Thanks for the encouragement and keep it up!

ok I missed a step somewhere. (I am sure I am NOT the only one). "PENNY BOXES?" is that a slang name for something? Banks offer boxes of Pennys or is this just a box of rolls to be explored? I have gotten rolls from the banks before and searched but the term "boxes" throws me off. Some how I picture a cigar box full of loose worn pennys the bank shoves at you. (I'd love that ) help me fill in the blank here.
