That's exactly how I feel Tuffjump. I find myself thinking about what my Grand-kid's ( I have three ) might get for my coins more than I worry about any profit anymore. I think it's great. It free's the mind to study Numismatics instead of the pricesheet's. WELL THAT SEALS IT! I took the coin out tonight, still mulling over what to do and realized that once I found the struck-thru on Abe's forehead the other day I really hadn't looked very hard at the rest of the coin. It took about ten seconds with a loupe to find another struck-thru error in the beard! Somebody tell me if you think I'm wrong here but it looks like the object was struck into the beard in the first strike, fell back and was struck-thru onto Lincoln's forehead on the second strike. The second strike brought the design up, obliterating part of the first circle in the process. So it looks like this coin has two little struck through errors. One for the first strike and one for the second. How's that for a theory! Also, to my dismay I found a small rim chip on the obverse. I wonder if this could keep the coin from grading? Anyway, It's on to Mr. Potter. Here are the best pictures I could get. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/orangepatrol/LCSD20.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/orangepatrol/LCSD21.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/orangepatrol/LCSD22.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/orangepatrol/LCSD23.jpg
Well it seems to be something but maybe it's not bad enough to keep it from being graded if submitted. And of course that is the Reverse not the "obverse". It's late.
I agree, that's what it looks like to me. Check out this old strike through, I know it's just an old undated buffalo nickel but look under the Indian's jawbone and you see "Pluribus". Clear as night and day in your hand but hard to photograph. What happened on this one, anyone?
Can make the photo lighter?? Ebay sure, but folk are not buying much but you never know. about 2yr ago I list an old Army Huey helmet. I started at 2.99 & $7 or $8.00 shipping and sold for $171.00 ya never know
Hey all, just found this thread, now I've got to get out the two extra Chronicles sets I received and give them a closer look. Kinda like a expensive lottery ticket. LOL
