PersianGuy: It's not a problem of high quality, it's a comment about the scale of the image being displayed in our browsers. Some members upload images into the body of the message that are full size (not adjusted for web), and they run off the width of the browser window, thus taking over the entire screen such that you cannot see the whole image display. This cause the entire contents of the web page to widen in the browser window so that we have to scroll left and right, up and down to see the coin because the image displays so huge on screen. These images do not resize down for some users. For instance, Lehigh and Matt/Lost Dutchman is another member who has images that do this. Maybe you can look up some of his pics to see what you see or don't see. The majority of members images are attached from a linked source online or from a file on their computer, which shows up as a thumbnail in the body of the post, then when other members click on the thumbnail, a slightly larger image opens in a 'lightbox' over the browser window which darkens behind the enlarged image. To see a larger image one can then double click the image and see the whole image on screen at it's maximum screen display size as well as click through the enlarged images like a slide show if multiple shots are uploaded. When I upload images I do so from a URL, hosted on Picasaweb (others use Photobucket). The image I have saved on Picasa in my albums are saved at 1600 pixels maximum on the longest edge of the image. This is reduced in scale from what comes out of my camera raw. This size usually provides a reasonable screen display size for people to see small details and such yet I find them kind of large for web at this size anyway. This is a thread I started with images I uploaded in this fashion. Maybe this is obvious to you already or the same process you used but something's amiss on settings that a few members images upload so huge while most do not.
WILD COLOURS!!! Lehigh have you ever looked at your iridescent rainbow coins under 'black light' [UV] lamps? Curious if they'd turn into even more of a disco scene. I love this one, it's beautiful! and I love your rich descriptions of your coins too.
Thanks Krispy... I'll try and host them that way from now on. Currently I just upload them to one of my domains and then use html here to have them appear directly in my post. I have not experienced what you describe yet (where the forum shifts over and stays that way) but I suspect it might be related to user settings.
Things don't work the same for everyone. Folks use different operating systems, browsers and run them at different resolutions. As a normal, a persons browser settings control if an image will shrink to fit the screen. Some browsers that are being ran at a really low res. can not shrink an image. 1938x1652 is a really large image and very few post them that size. I have three different systems running and looking at this thread. Can't view the whole image or read the thread without scrolling back and forth on any of the systems. The forum controls do nothing for some folks as well and for the same reasons as above. Do as you wish but images of that size do mess with people.
