    Recent roll finds

Not a lot of good luck searching through rolls this past few days. Only a few wheat cents, the oldest being a 1934.
I posted a new photo in FAVORITE COINS by BLAKE1943 of the BRONZE Lincoln cent that I found and the color came out fairly close this time. It is amazing how different the color is on this one compaired to a regular Lincoln cent. I checked and there is NO POWDER residue or other artificial colorization on it. This thing is legit.
    THANKS,
    BLAKE1943

Kirsten (my nine year old, the nickel collector) and I did a box of nickels tonight. Nothing much in there. A couple of early 40s coins, but no silvers and nothing she needed to add to the collection. She still lacks 20 coins of having a complete Jefferson collection. We still lack all the hard dates - the 38 & 39 D & S coins and the 50 D. We lack a few of the silver war nickels as well. We'll keep plugging away at it.

I feel pretty fortunate in that we've found two buffaloes with readable dates in eight boxes.

Picked up $300 worth of halves at a bank on my way home from an estate sale (home of the $2 sterling silver necklaces weighing about 2.5 oz apiece!) friday morning. :)
Only one 40% silver half, but I did *finally* get a 1987d Kennedy in pretty nice condition...EF perhaps low AU if I'm learning properly about grading. That only took $4000 worth! A 1970 and a 1987 p will complete my collection now. It also yielded some higher quality late 90's pieces than what I had. So, not terrific, but collection helpful...so I guess that counts!

My bank had an extra box of halves hangin out so I bought it. Turns out the box was opened, searched and then re-rolled!!! Not cool!!! I then picked up 80.00 more from another bank and was shut out once again... You win some you lose some.

Wow that was a great box. i average 7 wheats per box. The 1970's was also a great find IMO.

Hey. I feel ya. I've run into more and more that have been searched and returned already...a lot that someone actually put X's on the rolls to indicated they've been searched. I still do go through them, and actually have gotten a couple of proofs and some good quality specimans out of those rolls. Some folks are only looking for silver and don't know what else to look for so they just return them. Never hurts to look again!

Me too! Another box today and all I found was a beat up 2005 P. I'm beginning to think that i'm just seeing the same halves over and over. Even tough i use different "dump banks", they may all go to the same processor (Wells Fargo i.e.).

But i'll keep trying. At least i got a 1943-P war nickel in change today.

Found $610 of rolls at a bank most customer wrapped.

But, they had been pretty well searched and I found only 1 1968, 1 HORRIBLE looking 1974s proof (didn't keep), and one 1982 "no FG" error.

    Very strange box:

    3 silver coins:
1957 Franklin (first Frankie in a while)
    1964
And a 1968 Half Balboa from Panama (I believe this is silver clad)

    The following proofs:
    1971s
    1972s (2)
    1974s
    1976s (2, clad)
    1977s (3)
    1979s
    1980s
    1981s
    1983s
    1986s
    1988s
    1991s
    1994s
    2003s
    2004s
    2005s

Also, the following recent (non-circulated) halfs:
    2002 (6, both mints)
    2003 (6, both mints)
    2004 (9, both mints)
    2005 (3, both mints)
    2006d
    2007 (3 both mints)

a 1982 "No FG" error (my 4th one)
10 (TEN!!!!!!!) what I think are 1974D DDO. I've been looking for a while for this one, and this box had 10!!!!! I'll post pics in the error forum in the next couple of days to see if I'm right.

8 more various dates in AU58 (my guess of a grade)

+ a 1996 half with a colorized Kennedy head (What in the world?) I'll post a pic of that tomorrow in another thread to get it identified......never seen such a thing.

    Pretty interesting box, eh?

Do ya'll keep the extra 03, 04, 05s, etc., that you find?
