I was going to say a pizza, but I suppose you meant what coin. You might be able to find a halfway nice common date Morgan for that $20. Guy~
Something crusty, grimey and darkened with heavy tone that no one else wants. Don't let coin neglect happen. Help a coin out.
I agree with bq...but before you spend that $20 check it out, it could be a star worth more than face and get you a better coin. RickieB
I hunt for someone selling mint sets just back of bid and buy two 1996 Mint Sets as the W mint dimes are pretty darn cool!!
I would cash it in for 40 kennedy half dollars at my general store. They have quite a few of these waiting to trade out for cash, and approximately 7% of them are silver. :goofer:
Based on my roll searching I'd say more like 0.7% or even 0.07% are silver. But maybe I'm just unlucky. Still a fun way to spend $20 and you really don't lose any money as you can keep repeating the process until you have all $20 in silver coins... your bank teller might get upset with you first though
I've already spent hundreds on halves, with my last 5 boxes yielding only 9 silver all of which came from the last box. So this $20 I would like to spend on something that I won't later dump into a coin counter. I had been thinking about the large cent...
I think they all come from one source at my store. Basically I have cashed in for about 7 rolls of halves there, and I've found 7- 40% halves and 2- 90% halves.
No one has mentioned a Redbook yet. As for coins, $20 doesn't buy much that isn't extremely common, so I would say save it towards something more interesting and harder to find. If I "had to" and had to do it quickly, some coins already mentioned would be fine: a Morgan, an ASE, a couple of circulated Barber coins, or an old copper in low grade. Some other options are one more old tokens or medals, if one or more could be found of interest at a good price. Then there is always the dark side (foreign coins). Depending on the venue, sometimes $20 goes a lot further, in terms of avoiding the most common coins (though there is nothing wrong with common if that's what a person likes).
