How do you feel about the colored statehood quarters

Since I'm astatehood quarter collector mainly I do like the colored once also. I just want you to tell me what you think about them and do you like them and collect them also. Just curious to see how everybody feels about it.

i love those ive never seen them as in your collection.where can one obtain them?

 

The ones that I posted was a gift i received from one of my workers i make cabinets and he gave it to me knowing i love statehood quarters.

I have obtained some singular and package deals on Ebay for a good price and if you search the web i'm pretty sure there are many dealers that sell them .

Thanks for displaying those. Personally I would not buy a set or even a coin, due to there's no numismatic value. But to these it really comes down to just art and art is in the eyes of the beholder. Just because some would not buy them doesn't mean you don't have to. I would say buy one and if it appeals to you those quarters are for you. But just remember I feel they are just art.

 

Everyone has there own taste in collecting.plus I the he said they were a gift.there be a few gold coin/planchets that were made in the 1800 as enameled piece made for Kings & Leader of country's as gifts that are one of a kinds and wroth some big $$$$$

but the state quarters are not the same thing

One constructive note if you do like them you should have no trouble finding them and finding them cheap because this is one of thoses items that sooner or later come into coin shops and are sold for face value. At least I think they get that much?

 

I apreciate the art work that's why i like them and there's plenty of statehood quarters without the painting on them for everyone That's what makes the world go round different strokes for different folks.

I have a question statehood, How long does the film stay on the coins? I remember a article once that was showing a women who had paid a good deal of money for some and they were delivered with the film peeling away.

 

I agree with you Rockdude a good point, you have to be very careful were you obtain them there are so many different artist that do this work.

The ones i have are still intact no paint chipping off and i think it's the way they are packaged and shipped maybe handled wrong and the paint chips off there's so many different reasons why the paint would peel.

I have been fortunite and lucky. the best place to get them would be from a reputable dealer that you could trust i would never make a company mail them to me i want to see the artwork in person because some of the work is better then others ,and sometimes the excessive heat when being packaged could make the paint peel off especially if they didn't prime the surface of the coin first.

as long as too much of a premium isn't paid for them, i think they are cool. especailly if they are really painted nicely and don't just have stickers on them like some of the Obama coins that came out.

 

I love the statehood quarters and the painted ones too there cool coins to have.

Not something I collect, but there are a few of them that are pretty nicely done. Like someone already said, if you like them then thats all that should matter. I bet they look neat all together as a set though. Something I wouldn't mind seeing posted if you have the time.

Hey, whatever floats your boat. If you like them, then have fun with them. Since you asked though, I consider those painted coins to be post-mint-damaged and consider them to be worth exactly 25 cents each. If they had come out of the mint that way, like the Canadians have done, then that would be a different story but I still don't think I'd like them. Painting a numismatic item yourself is just damage as far as I'm concerned. But, to each his own.

I don't think it's damage you have to learn how to apprecate art. there are plenty of regular none painted statehood quarters to go around and i wouldn't doubt that the painted ones helped boost up the interest level in the regular series too . I bet it helped the Hobby .

How do you know I don't know how to appreciate art? Just because I don't appreciate painted quarters? I appreciate the artists who designed to quarters in the first place. The coins themselves are art, or at least they are supposed to be. I someone painted the Mona Lisa to be whatever colors they wanted, people would consider that damage. Its no different with coins, in my oinion. The numismatic value of these coins has been virtually destroyed by painting them. They are coins. Sculptures. Not paintings. Theres no reason to argue here though. Like I said, to each his own. If everyone liked the same thing the world would be boring, and there would be no art. However, the OP asked opinions and I gave mine.

 

I like them but not enough to buy them. If i saw one I liked I might get one, i do have a couple gold plated coins.

 

I think if you're a art collector it might appeal to you but as a coin collector I don't know. I think I might have one but don't know where it is, that's how important it is to me.
