Hi all, I just got this (and 4 other Morgans) from my dad's closet! This one has a slight indication of the 80/79 overdate. It looks like there are quite a few contact marks. What do you think? Thanks!
Welcome to the forum! It definitely is the reverse of '78, and I think I see the 79 over 80, couldn't be really sure without close ups of the date. As for the grade, it has a good amount of bag marks, and that hit on the cheek is rough. Unfortunately I think the hit on the cheek might get it body bagged (Genuine holder), if not I think it would grade MS60. It also has a nice cameo contrast, and imo from the pics looks PL.
VAMs can be tricky, but not this one, lol, that is 100% VAM4 (80/79). Great find, it's one of the stronger examples of the over date. :thumb: Btw great pics too.
Thanks so much for your opinion on this!! :smile Does the mark on the face take away most of the value on this, or do you think it would still be of interest to a buyer?
What a shame abt the hits, that is one beautiful coin. Great strike and I love the PL surfaces. Thanks for sharing!!
From the pics it looks like it's in a GSA hard case, if so, I don't think you'll have any trouble finding a buyer.
