I sold my Lincoln Chronicles set today on Ebay. I had a start of $149 and buy it now $165. It sold at $165 after being posted for 5 hours.

I sold mine for $160 + $5 dollar shipping. So about a $100 dollar profit, not to bad for doing pretty much nothing :thumb:.

I wouldn't sell it just yet. I don't collect pennies much but the price may go up after this initial craze. :thumb:

I've seen posts where ppl say the price will fall flat but does anyone actually have an example of a similar situation? :kewl: I didn't think so, also someone else mentioned how ugly the Lincoln dollar is, and I agree with that sentiment but ppl are still buying the LN7 and prices may have have gone up since this craze over the release of the LN6. Time will tell but I will keep mine when I get it as nobody knows for a fact what will happen. Oh and again if anyone has a good example, better than the Franklin Chronicles coin mentioned in another post b/c you really can't compare the following of Ben Franklin to the following of Abe Lincoln. :hammer:

Indeed! Some folks may sell now for a decent profit but also don't forget holiday shoppers are out there, now and in the months to come. You might have a little time to see where the price is going with these sets and still make money on resale until the end of the year. Beyond is anyone's guess but with 50,000 sets and these coins everywhere, this is mainly a 'packaging' deal with the LN6.

I think in situations such as this it is always a good idea to buy a couple of extra sets to sell immediately so that it off-sets the cost of the ones you decide to keep. Its one way I've found that I can make other collectors pay for my coin habitus. :D

The trick this time was setting up enough accounts with relatives to be able to purchase the extra sets. Sometimes its good to be one of 9 kids...Kiss

Way to go sellers!! I don't know what the dog gone I'm gonna do when I get mines. I discovered that the Lincoln proof I bought a few months back is the same dollar that's coming with my set so I am totally undecided on what to do. I actually thought that my Lincoln dollar wasn't as ug as the one that's in the set, but I pulled it out of lock up today and it's the same dollar. :D I thought mine was best and it's the same as everyone else's. :D I actually thought there was two commeratives for some dumb reason. Anyways, I have one penny set with my 2009 proof set and I ordered two more and with this LN6 that will be a total of 4 sets of pennies and 2 of the dollar. I'll tell ya' I just don't know!! :goofer:

Yes, some new issues go up and keep going up for a while, some come back down. The Marine Commems shot up after release and now have come back down. Same with Ben Franklin sets, and 2005 Legacy sets. On the other side, the ASE 2006 three coin sets went up and then kept going up for a while, and are still well above the pre-release Ebay sale prices, though below peak prices.

The 2005 Legacy sets are among the worst performers. They went up to about $250, almost double the issue price of $135. Now can be bought for well under $100, sometimes as low as $65. The Legacy sets are similar to the Lincoln sets because the coins are available, the packaging and 50,000 limit is what caused the initial price premium.

As always, no one knows if the price for the Lincoln chronicle sets will go up and stay up, go up more, or fall back. Folks can offer an opinon, but it is guessing, some educated guesses, some not.

Since the Lincoln Silver Dollar proofs are selling for about $60 on ebay, the 2009 proof cents at $8 at the US Mint, I will guess on a final settling price of $80. The photo of abe, Gettsburg address, COA, and fake leather cover has to push the price another 12 bucks.

the 2006 20av AME set was a good one for me order 4 sent 2 to Ngc got 70 & 69 sets back. kept the 70 set for me. sold the other 3 a Xmas 06 on eBay made out well
but this year I only order one of the Lincoln Chronicles.
But in January I order 2 UHR and that tapped out a bit more than my yearly coin budget

Your dog is far more valuable than any coin collection in the world. It's a proven fact pets can lower their owners blood pressure, no other family member can do that. I hope she lives another 20 years.

Just curious, did you keep your shipping box unopened from the mint or did you take a glance at the coins prior to the sale?
