The seller indicates if you think it's a fake send it back. He did not specify that it was a fake So with that in mine i don't think that'a a fake coin just like the op's.

you come to the forum, welcome BTW, and ask opinions on the coin. Opinions were given, and you argue against them?! If you already made up your mind, why come and ask?

I recently posted a thread about a chinese coin from the 1940's. The person who got this coin, got it in a transaction at a store. He has kept it for over 40 years, then passed it to his daughter, and she gave it to me. The coin is a fake. Just because the coin circulated, does not make it real. It just shows most folks cant tell the differance.

if you ask opinions, you need to accept those given - even if you disagree with them.

I feel very sad to hear this comment from you.Like I said earlier,it is 100% genuine silver dollar coin with die clash becouse it was passed down from my grandmother to my father on last time.My grandmother loved my daddy so much and gave this coin to him.I never heard off anything as counterfeit silver coin during that time(40 years ago),do you think she would passed down a counterfeit silver coin to my dad?More over,I have a few of this similar counterfeit silver coin compare with this coin. They look very much difference such as missing part of the chinese words, head moved to left or right a little bit, extra or missing leaf on reverse side and the most important one is the coin surface colour is alot difference when put together and compare them on side by side,a chrome metal and a silver coin.Plus, the sound of a counterfeit and genuine of this coin are completely difference sound when you hit on the side with another coin together. If you still dont believe that this is a genuine coin, maybe I will put a counterfeit and this coin together and take a scan to show you over here, just my two cents.:headbang:

Hi,nice to see some of you once again.Fortunely,I have just discovered another "unique error" on the security edge of this coin beside die clash error.I really have no idea what kind of error is this and it is not a common error on any coin.I have never ever seen something like this before and probably this is the first time I have seen something like this,so I would consider and call it as "unique error".Obviously,I can see there are two thicker lines or teeth than the rest on the security edge showing on the superlarge scan below, the left tooth is eventually much more thicker than the right tooth.Normally, the teeth on the security edge are all the same size(on each tooth).Probably this is a double error coin(die clash and security edge errors).
May I know what kind of error is this on the security edge?Is this considered as "unique error" type?Is this a common or rare error? What happened to this silver dollar coin during the processing?I hope someone can tell me something about this error and also answer all my questions,I need help from you and your help is apprieiciated from me.Thank you very much.I will see you soon. ;) ;) ;)

Recut reeding is also a sign of a counterfiet piece. This not an error at all but still all signs point to cast counterfiet.

Sorry you don't like what I said but you did ask for help. We had another member say he got a coin from his grandpa and it turned out that he stole it from another site. I'm not saying this to accuse you of that, I brought it up because every post is questionable.

Sorry if u think that I argue against over your comments.I need to tell you the fact. You were given me the comment that this is a counterfeit coin but that "just coins" comment it as genuine coin and I have to agree with him.:eek:hya::D:cool:

Well I dont agree with him... or you... this coin is clearly a cast counterfiet. Sorry it's not what you want to hear...but from my experience it's pretty obvious. In my opinion this coin doesn't even have a chance of being real.

I was 99 & 44/100th of the same view before I saw the reeding. Now I'm 120% of that opinion.

Counterfeits have been cast for hundreds of years, and the OP's insistence that because the coin is old it must be genuine is about as naive as anything I've ever read on this (or any other) forum.

Ermmmmmmmmm.....Well I dont agree with you too...or...hontonai...this coin is clearly a genuine piece and if you, hontonai and the other guy still dont believe me then I need to prove it right now.I have put this coin together with another two counterfeit of this similar coins(except for the year is three),all together are three coins and taken a superlarge scan of them.Obviously, the colour of the genuine coin and counterfeit coins are not the same showing on the superlarge scans below, the genuine coin in the middle looks more "silver" than the counterfeit coins on the left and right that look more "chrome metal".Beside the colour looks difference, the other way to identify it is the cut reeding on the security edge, the cut reeding on the security edge of a genuine coin(middle)is nicely done, longer and nicer teeth with WIDER or BIGGER holes in between the teeth instead of shorter cut reeding, ugly teeth with MORE NARROW or SMALLER holes in between those teeth on the security edge of the counterfeit coins(top and bottom) clearly showing on the last superlarge scan.More over, the genuine coin size is thicker than the two counterfeit silver coins too.I really have no more idea how to explain this by typing over here anymore. Please click and enlarge those superlarge scans below, what you see is what you get.For sure you will get the right answer.I hope this would help you.:eek:dd:Kiss:computer::hatch::hail::bigeyes::smile:smile:smile:smile

I have a counterfeit, It sticks to a magnet, and only weighs 20g. I got it at a flea market for $1. At least I didn't loose out on too much.

Fortunely, your counterfeit coin is the same exactly like mine showing on the scans above and I bought them at the same price of what you paid for,the weight is same like your coin too.I have also measured the genuine coin weight,it is about 27.5 grams on the analog weight measurement meter. You need to take good care of your coin becouse some of this counterfeit coins might turn into rusty coins in time to come in my experience.:eek:dd::eek:dd::eek:dd:

Just because they different doesn't mean that one is real. There are many counterfeits out there made by many different people...all are different.

Love the back and forth banter in threads like this, and even though I don't collect these issues it's always good to learn about why something may indeed be a fake. Funny, but this old saying keeps rattlin' around in the back of my head. Fuzzy, Fuzzy.....wait, getting clearer.....oh yeah, "there are none so blind as those who will not see"......

I couldn't have phrased it any better.
And arguing about colors with the blind is an exercise in futility.

My final word on the subject: Coinlover, enjoy your "genuine" piece of cast imitation coinage - just don't try to sell it to anyone with eyes and a modicum of knowledge.
