Just some plain old large cents for the album. Well at least the 1839. Nothing spectacular just coins I like(first purchase from Hamling) and thought I would post them.
Great cents, Mark. And not too low grade. For me, those are high grade compared to most LC's I have. Guy~
Thanks all! And you know I have never really thought about what people consider high grade or low grade. I know to me it varies by coin type when I think about it. I mean on ASE's a when I think high grade I am thinking 69 or 70, on IHC's anything higher than MS60, on large cents XF or better. Interesting thought.
Wow... those are some high grade coins. Here's what I call low grade (a real beauty from my large cent collection):
I was embarrassed by the quality of my large cents until this photo. Thanks for sharing. Mark had me a little depressed with his poor quality large cents that were on the higher end of my collection. Of course, I purchased mine at a woodchuck auction for less than $10 a piece.
I'll argue that grade, VF-20 Nice coins in this thread! I dropped my first and only LC a couple months ago on ebay.
Please note that I said that it was at least an F12. I could go to an VF20 considering the great color and eye appeal. It does have a little wear on the liberty and a couple dings on the rim on the reverse. Otherwise, it is a very nice coin. VF20 it is.
I love them all! There is no bad large cent, some are just nicer than others. Thanks for sharing everyone - and yes I do have a few in that type shape. I have posted them before if I get a chance I will look for them.
I love collecting these old hunks of copper. There are still some real bargains on these cents if you keep an eye out for them. I usually run acrossed them when I'm not carrying any cash. But, I'm learning!!!
I like how you can call those low grade (compared to the others I've seen on this thread !) LOL They look like great coins, with some good detail as well, congrats Mark
Login in to CoinTalk today, I just saw the title of this thread, w/o looking at the name of the the OP, and I knew it had to be one of Marks - who else loves large coppers so much?(besides a very few others in the forum?) Those are nice additions Mark, a little late-date for my own taste, but nice. I've also bought a few from Hamling, and was always sastified. Have not added any LCs in the last few months though...but I did get a decent Eborac for my colonial collection.
