Hey, I only plagiarized, no filtering involved! Unh huh - next time either edit first or don;t bother posting it !
editedand "TPN" was an abreviation for "train pressed nickel." Of course I could be way off on the second one!
Yep - a few need to be edited out of the list for this forum. Probably could add a few that get used here on occasion - LWC Lincoln Wheat Cent, DBC Draped Bust Cent, etc. Never been a big fan of acronyms, but understand the necessity.
Thanks, maybe there should be an acronym dictionary just so we can look up what people mean, I sometimes try to guess and I usually guess wrong what some of those alphabet soup initials mean. the first time I saw LMAO, I thought they were saying they loved chairman mao.
I know that many try to help others with information but wouldn't it have been much easier to just reference the numerous places where such terminology is listed. If I remember correctly there is a complete listing much greater than this on the PCGS web site. Also, I've seen such listings in many other places. Such a post here gets lost after a few days so why not just reference the places such lists show up. Expecially when they are much, much more complete.
Carl, I already said in my post where this information came from - the PCGS forum - and don't you think I would have posted other or better references had I KNOWN of them? I'm sorry if this information isn't helpful to you but it seems to be helpful to some others, but if you feel there is better or "much, much more complete" coin lingo, please, by all means, let us know how we can access it. With all due respect, I am curious to know why you wouldn't have simply posted such links here or on another post?
Charmy, As much as I like Carl, get used to the sour grapes.....it is very typical. By the way,you forgot coin show lingo.....such as MMATBATS- Meet me at the bar after the show PWMYCAI- Poker with me? You can't afford it. SYARB- See you at Rock Bottom JIDHIBDA- Jack is drunk, he is buying dinner again. JCGAA-Jack Campbell got arrested again IBTCTKWMA- I brought those Coin Talk kids with me again lol, see folks, I still chime in here and try to keep a smile.
JACK!! you're BACK!!! Glad to see you here - and duly noted about Carl - no biggie really. I love your new, very applicable, acronyms! Here are a couple more.... JPAG - Jack plays awesome guitar CMJCTP - Charmy misses Jack's CoinTalk posts CWTSYATOS - Can't wait to see you at the Ontario show MSYBYNHS - Make sure you bring your new hot sauce GTCAWR - Get the cards and wine ready!
The next time gang - I will be handing out infractions. That much editing tends to make me cranky. Every one of you knows the rules, and humor is no excuse for breaking them.
It took me a long time to figure out what 'BTW' meant. Here's my funny one for the day. In work there was a small tester called: S.A.R.T.=Semi Automatic Resistance Tester. Well finally it was engineered to run fully automatic. Can you guess what the acronym was then......... naw. They got brains these guys and named it something like: Piezoelectric Automatic Resisitance Tester= P.A.R.T.
