This Peace $ was supposedly stashed away in someones dresser for the last 40+ years. That might explain the even toning. Have at it. Bruce These scans didn't come out as good as I expected.
I have a very similar 1928 Peace dollar that I rated an EF-40. It has very few issues but a little faded like your coin. I'll be interested in the view from the gallery.
It's got a gray tone from hanging around those socks and underwear for all those years. However the surfaces are quite unmarked. Bruce
The luster is quite nice. The scans don't really do it justice. I'll have to try my new camera out tomorrow, or maybe use an old one. I was being lazy with the scanner. It does have a contact mark on the eagles right wing towards the middle of the wing. I bought this coin as an AU coin because I like it in general. So many of the AU coins look better than an MS60 or 61 because they don't have so many contact marks. I've seen too many MS coins that were "beat up" but had no wear. Those become the 60's and 61's. Bruce
So many times it has been said in these forums that an AU coin can "best an MS-60/61 coin in eye appeal. Indeed, I'm a believer. Picked up a '21 "Peace" last weekend that fits the bill......
