Hey there fellow Coin Talkers! I have decided to start a tradition for Halloween. The contest is simple: Post your ugliest or scariest coin, token, or paper money! Foreign or US works. However, if someone else posts the same coin as you, you MUST post a different coin, token, or currency pic. There will be two categories, one for ugly and the other for scary. To make this truly fair, I would also like a panel of five judges to assist in the process of elimination. If you are interested in being a judge, please PM me. The winners will get to choose from the following prizes with the first place winners in both categories getting first pick: ***10 circulated Asian world coins in a 20 pocket sheet (I'll have two of these prizes. I'll have photos soon.) They range from F to XF in condition. ***A trinary $1 bill in fair circulated condition. http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/ss81/danfierce/FunkySerial1front.jpg ***A 1967 English Penny in at least VF to XF condition with some beautiful blue and purple toning. (My photo skill really don't do this any justice.) http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/ss81/danfierce/FunkySerial1front.jpg The contest will go until Midnight on Halloween. The following day or two the judges will decide and I will announce the winners. Until then, DO NOT PM me your address, please. It really won't help your chances. Good luck and happy haunting!
This has to be my ugliest...Amazingly I love this coin...Because it IS so ugly...LOL! I found this in a roll, believe it or not!
Here's my ugly looking coin, happens to be a penny also. Can we post both ugly and scary or is it one or the other? Just checking, much appreciation for the contest.
To make it fair, I should limit the entries to one per member. However, since I didn't specify before you posted, fretboard, I will allow you to enter one or the other, but not both. I should also clarify that the pics should be posted here, not PM'ed. Only those who wish to volunteer to judge should PM me for now. :thumb:
My favorite teller saved this for me. It was cool of her. All I could do was smile and say, Thank You!.................................................John
This High Grade Franklin Here we have a 1954 HIGH GRADE Franklin. As demonstrated by my high resolution camera, this easily deserves the attribute NFBL. With no luster remaining this coin, it is a must have for every coin collector.:thumb:
Here is a 1943 10 yen note brought back from WWII by my grandpa and given to me. It is priceless to me, but has certainly seen better days.
I don't even see any monsters yet... The reverse is the hero Perseus, holding the freshly-slain head of Medusa. From Pontos, Amisos, 85-65 BC
The ugly note is ovious, the other one is included since their serial #s are consecutive. I think they went through a fire together...lol They are 1928G $2 red seals
LOL! Great comeback... But we all know that Indian Chiefs would win in a fight against whatever kinda Greek warriors you got on your coins!
HAHA...Your whole tribe would turn to stone as soon as they saw Medusa....what makes you think they can handle Perseus? stainless
I think we have a winner below...lol. It's a 1875 trade dollar, but it could be an S or CC since the mintmark area is so messed up.
Ugly Coin Contest Sorry for the extra post, but just thought someone would want to see the reverse side of this coin.
Excellent entries all! Keep them coming! By the way, I still need 4 more judges. If you wish to help, just PM me. Thanks in advance!
