Attention - This is not my detected coin Hello everyone, Today I want to share an amazing find one of our Detecting Club members found yesterday at Hunter Island in the Bronx NYC.. 1894 S Mint Barber Half Dollar - He also detected a Mercury dime and a busted gold ring.. It was detected by my buddy Carlos on the right..
My second detecting hunt I did at St. Mary's park again on Sunday did not yield any silver.. Some neat items though..
I knew I dropped that half somewhere. Glad you guys found it. I'll send along my address so you can mail it back to me. Thanks!
Very nice and what a great find for Carlos. That batmobile looks like it was lost yesterday. Great finds again Paddy!
Somehow I get the feeling that the batmobile is more liked and worth more than all your other finds that day.
The one and only Barber half I ever dug was an 1894-O, but it's lower grade than that one (like AG-ish). Still the kind of find that makes you gasp when it pops out of the plug, as you can imagine.
No clue here- those could be 19th or 20th century, I reckon. But he posted a buckle (likely a shoe buckle) in another thread that looks colonial-era to me- or very early 19th century at the latest.
I would post my freinds YouTube video but they curse way too much. Not appropriate The guy was totally surprised!
Oh, yeah. Popping a silver half - any silver half- outta the dirt will cause one to blurt out all sorts of things in surprise. I was on the side of a hill when I dug my 1894-O Barber half. I shouted to my buddies, and then rolled down the hill like a little kid. You should've seen me when I dug a 1926 Oregon Trail half once, on a shallow "quarter" signal!
