Maybe someone can look at the mintmark on this 1975 Dime. The coin is in tip-top condition..so I became puzzled as to why where a D or S or nothing should be..an error seems to have occured.. Have a look at this and tell me what you think please. Looks like an overstrike on S to me. Gosh, I've had this coin for years too, and never catalogued it or looked at it.

This coin was minted in Philadelphia where no mintmark was applied.

Well I guess I don't know what you are asking if anything at all. Maybe a full sentence will help. Or is the last comment some kind of joke?

Look, I only asked for some advice about a possible mint mark overstrike. I know nothing about US coins..I know enough to know it is not P. Between him and edited - I suggest you take it easy with the name callingI mean can't someone just reply if they can help without acting daft? I saw his first reply as sarcasm and a nastyness with his mood listed as 'talk to the hand'. I should have ignored it but I didn't. This is the second thread since I joined where sarcasm is thrown for no particular reason.

I asked a question..It looks like an S overstriked an an angle over S. 1975 Dimes only came in nothing S or D..right? I see repunched is the term.

Your coin has no mint mark only a date,

Your coin has no mint mark only a date, it was minted in the main minting facility in Philly. If you are thinking the "JS" is a mint mark that is the coins designer's initials John Sinnock - hope this helps.

Also, on Roosevelt dimes the mint mark will be on the reverse at the base of the torch.

Sorry, but they moved them in 1968 to just above the date.

I'll just stick with pennies now:confused: Why was I thinking that wasn't until 1980? Did something about the Roosevelt change in '80?

That is when they put the "P" mint mark on them.

That's a very nasty remark and I just joined here and I don't want to hear stuff like this ,Rockdude was saying there's no mintmark on that date so he's right.
