Not all of them were. Fred Schwan and others believe that either the DOD is holding a significant number of these notes. It is expected that they will be released at some point. The Army Finance Museum at Ft. Jackson has a display of MPC that has hundreds of Series 691 notes on display. There is no reason to believe that they do not also have a large group of 701 notes.
You would think they would cut their losses since they report that MPC will never be used again, and just sell them into the collecting community.
Thanks Scottishmoney & Lettow,this site CT is fantastic for info ,both of you know more about MPCs then I will ever dream of.I have Schwan's book & am new to MPCs but learning,these 2 above MPCs will remain out of my reach (unless I win the NY lottery !). mpcusa; seems to have quit a collection ,perhaps a few more pictures to share with us at CT paper money would be nice. Thanks !
No guys, move along. Nothing to see with MPC's, they have fugly images of military equipment etc. Nothing pretty, very dull...
Hi Guys, I just worked out a good deal on a few certified MPCs @ mpcusa , worth looking again @ the mpc;
Come on guys!, MPC,S are so cool, Beats the drab! we have these days, Thats For sure boring!!! and the history of war is a great tie in Korea, Vietnam etc!! As far as the Series 691 release date, Who knows you could be dead by that time!! Lol, And we already know a great deal of them were destroyed in 1999, I dont have The production numbers but i believe them to be on the lower side, Especially the $5,s and $10,s they are very difficult to locate at any price!!
I think MPC's are great little notes.I've posted this link before, but for the people that didn't know it, I collect U.S. MPC's also..Someday I'll upgrade the pics. .................................................................John http://picasaweb.google.com/dready50/MPC1

You should check it out!! edited - please the forum rules to find out what you can and cannot do on this forum i love talking MPC !!!!!
Is this the same catalog used in WW2 Remembered? I know Schwan helped write that one and it has a pretty full MPC Catalog that expands well past WW2.
Yes and no. WW2R was published in 1995. The latest MPC catalog is 2004(?). There is significantly more information in the MPC catalog than in WW2R.
Mine is the 4th. Edition copy write 2002,I was told it is the latest edition. Very good book with great pictures of MPCs.
Thanks for the information lettow its much appreciated!! Do you collect Mpc? If so would like to invite you to join our social group (Mpc Talk)
MPS's are great! I have been working on a consecutive set for along time. Dont think I'll ever get there as the high denoms are expensive in any grade but it's fun trying I have all the nickels already and most of the dimes! Who here has been to MPC Fest and what's it like?
I have been to the last 6 MPCFests and will be there again in April 2010. It is unlike any other numismatic gathering. The things you learn, the military numismatic material you see and, most importantly, the people you meet will never be forgotten. One thing that is important for people to realize is that it is more than MPC. All areas of military numismatics including AMC, club chits, POW notes, AAFES and EFI pogs, tokens, war bonds, etc. are covered at the MPCFest. It is the one numismatic event that is permanently on my calendar. I strongly recommend anyone with an interest in military numismatics attend.
I know I have posted this site before, but I just moved to another host, I'm combining some of my sites to save money. Anyways, here is my AMC collection. Yu can click on the Thumbnails for HiRes images. http://scmpgaming.com/ww2-study/Allied - Military Currency/index.html
Nice pics on the website. Not to be picky, but Obverse and Reverse are coin terms. Face and Back are the terms used for paper money.
Lettow ,I also have tagged many of my currency with Obverse and Reverse ,I guess being a coin collector before paper money this is a common mistake. Now as I see them I'll edit them correctly. Thanks .
