Is this really a rare coin or just another Krause screw up?

    Krause says there's 2 types.
    1925(h) HCN; G and 1925(h) HCN; GJ

It doesn't list any price for the GJ one and normally they have the GJ. I've looked on the net but must say not much out there when it comes to Denmark coins.

If there is a site that some one knows of that can aid me in these variations on foreign coins I'd so appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance!

Hmm, I don't see that "G" variety listed in the Krause. Would not make much sense anyway - those are the mintmaster's (HCN = Hans Christian Nielsen) and the artist's (GJ = Gunnar Jensen) initials ...

That's kind of why I'm confused. I've seen a lot of type o's in Krause the wrong page number listed for countries, a low grade of a coin listing for more money than the next grade up.

Sorry, my mistake - I found the entry you mentioned, and yes, the catalog does list that "G" type. Have not seen that elsewhere ...

And yes, there is quite a bit of information about Danish coins out there. But some of it is (surprise ;) ) in Danish, such as this site:
    http://www.gladsaxegymnasium.dk/2/c10sieg.htm
    (Christian X coins)

The Royal Mint's web site has both a Danish and an English version:
    http://www.kgl-moent.dk/DKM/UK/Coins.nsf/side/Christian_X!OpenDocument
    (Christian X coinage, English)

what does "rare" really mean? if this coin was in MS65, i would say it's rare. if it's in VF, it's a common coin of a low mintage. the "G" only would be the result of a filled die or some other mint error since Gunnar Jensen was the artist.

Plus side is I can get sites translated to English in most cases. Thanks for the info

As for that Danish language website, the address that I posted is now outdated; the current URLs have an extra "2". Addresses without that will take you to the school's (new) main site. So instead of ...

... you should now look here for Christian X coinage:
    http://www2.gladsaxegymnasium.dk/2/c10sieg.htm

The start page of that "Danish Coins" project is here:

Oh thanks, Coin Talk is were I stop first when I'm trying to figure out a foreign coin. Besides I rather have it under priced than over priced.
