I've looked on the net but must say not much out there when it comes to Denmark coins. If there is a site that some one knows of that can aid me in these variations on foreign coins I'd so appreciate it. Thanks in advance! Jessica
Hmm, I don't see that "G" variety listed in the Krause. Would not make much sense anyway - those are the mintmaster's (HCN = Hans Christian Nielsen) and the artist's (GJ = Gunnar Jensen) initials ... Christian
That's kind of why I'm confused. I've seen a lot of type o's in Krause the wrong page number listed for countries, a low grade of a coin listing for more money than the next grade up.
Sorry, my mistake - I found the entry you mentioned, and yes, the catalog does list that "G" type. Have not seen that elsewhere ... And yes, there is quite a bit of information about Danish coins out there. what does "rare" really mean? if this coin was in MS65, i would say it's rare. if it's in VF, it's a common coin of a low mintage. the "G" only would be the result of a filled die or some other mint error since Gunnar Jensen was the artist. -steve
