I know i can't take a good picture but I hope you can tell enough to give me your opinion. I don't see any signs of wear although it does appear to to rather weak strike it has a full Liberty and all four Diamonds even though they don't show up well in this picture. It really is a case of looking better in hand but then everybody says that LOL.
Try this other pic not much better tho.

I'll venture a guess and say it has been cleaned, those are some nasty surfaces on that coin.
Better pictures will help for sure, try getting the coin shot straight on. You won't have a problem getting it lit properly with two light sources.

The obverse, the portion of it that is in focus, looks like it has an 'orange peel' effect, not unlike that of a cast counterfeit. The reverse just looks funky with a lot of scratches. Is this coin genuine? Inquiring minds want to know....

I was going to comment on it possibly being counterfeit, but I refrained because all the denticles look nice, and the Portrait looks spot on. If it is a counterfeit, I would like to give "kudos" to them. It's good.. with teh exception of the field surfaces.

I thought something looked fishy as well, like a cleaning, but I am a novice trying to learn.

If it was cleaned it sure wasn't done harshly and possibly a long time ago. Nice coin. I'd like to have it in my Album.

It looks a little like those matte proof linkums that peny lady and others have posted here, at least to me they do.

Your pictures are about 1/2 out of focus, so, it is kind of hard to tell for sure, but that sure looks like a cast copy to me. I have no idea what else would cause all those pox marks all over the coin.

I can judge the condition or grade of the coin - my first thought was polished, but I really do not know.

There are some issues with the coin , like the surface , an ident and pimples that are indicitive to cast coins , but I'm learning that I don't know enough yet to condemn this coin , red flags yes , but dentils and and details look fine , maybe one of the counterfeit experts will chime in .

I was going to guess an acid of sorts.

Looks like it may have been an AU or lower range UNC coin with some environmental damage/corrosion that was then whizzed/cleaned.
