New Coins (From the Lehigh Collection)

Well I had some extra dough laying around, and I decided to end a coin buying drought with two nice toners from our good pal, Lehigh.
Jefferson Nickels aren't my favorite coin in the world, but I must say these are absolutely beautiful!

I could give you my method, but these pictures were taken by the seller. (Lehigh96) I can give you some tips, but if my method still doesn't work, you might want to message Lehigh96.

I now use two lighting sources... The halogen lamps work good, as they are bright, and some people use florescent lights as well, and they are fine. I have them at a ten and two position, and the light of course, is hitting the coin, so there are no really dark spots, in contrast to really bright spots
NEVER USE FLASH...
Sometimes you have to take 100 pictures of one side of the coin, just to come up with a good one, but it will be all worth it, once you get a good shot. Make sure the white balance is set, you can place a white piece of paper behind the coin, and see if the picture comes out with the right shade of white, if not, then adjust it. Always use Marco, and try not to zoom in, unless you have a special marco lens that can see details real close up, other than that, I would suggest to stay maybe about 7 inches to about 15 inches away from the coin, and take the picture, and see how it looks

No problem, also a good photo editing program that I use is Photoscape. This program is a breeze to use, and you can probably master the program in about a week or so, very very easy. You can make pictures just like the ones shown, with the label, the obverse, and the reverse, side by side. If you ever need any help just shoot me up with a PM, and I will help you as best as I can

 

T$ Awesome nickles , when you want toned coins Lehigh is the man to see , I think it's about time I get one . They're both beautiful , the gunmetal gray and the gold one , I'd have a hard time choosing .

The 1943-P was in my registry set at one point. I first upgraded to an MS67 5FS and then upgraded that coin to an MS67*. The upgrades caused the coin that you bought to fall from both my primary and duplicate registry sets into 4 Sale status.

My registry set is currently ranked 2nd, but I think it was only a top ten set when this coin resided in it. Either way it is a very pretty coin. Travis, you are in for a real treat when you see this coin in hand. The photos just can't do iridescent war nickel toning justice. The PCGS 1945-D was never in any of my registry sets. Still a nice coin though.

I am also glad to see you starting a toned Jefferson Nickel registry set of your own. I know that you have stated that the Jefferson Nickel is not your favorite design, but I think you will find after collecting them for a while, that the Jefferson series can be very diverse and rewarding as well as a lot of fun.

Nice coins! And I was going to mention now you need to do the whole set. I also agree with Paul - I find several designs not my liking, but when you see some beauties like these coins in hand - all of a sudden you like them. PS - I like the jefferson design, but not enough to do a set like Paul. Of course so far I own two war nickel sets and I keep looking for more at the local coin shop. I just like 'em all together in those holders.
