Standard SAE's are going for $25 on ebay now..... WTF?

I was buying them for $16 a month ago.

In fact, all silver bullion in general is going in the $20 range on ebay. This really edited me off. I can't buy SAEs anymore because I refuse to pay high premiums. Local Coin Shops are no better when it comes to SAEs either.

Im reduced to buying various obscure country currencies/coinage with silver content in them that the ebay idiots dont know about yet. Even then, im now fighting other, more knowledgeable people for the obscure coins who are now in the same position im in, and its gonna get worse.

Why cant PMs stay down until im finished buying?

Well.... Silver is always going to go up and down... If you bought for 16, and now it's selling for 25 why don't you sell some? Then pick up more when the price drops again.
    My advice;
just flow with the prices. It never stays the same, so you might as well give in and pay the melt value, or just hold on and wait for it to drop again.

Silver spot is $17.70 right now. The ebay sellers risk it going even higher while their merchandise is 'on the market'. Sellers don't set prices...buyers do. I buy stuff like proof silver eagles for around $40 apiece. The fluctuating price of silver seems to have no effect on them. Also remember, the spot price of silver is based on 1000 oz. bars. When you want that silver made into pretty li'l coins...it costs money and that's where the premiums come from.

I'm now glad that I bought the entire ASE collection last year (1986-2008) for just $20 a coin. Of course, silver will go down again but I'm feeling good right now. I also bought a 2009 ASE for $20 on ebay earlier this year. I guess they are probably heading up in value with the 50% increase in silver prices.

The proof ASEs cost about double of a regular ASE, but to me, they're 10 times as beautiful. That's why I'm working on a collection of them to hang on the wall and be admired daily.

I also have a 2007 69-graded Early Release SAE that was part of an ebay lot I won.

I dont care much for numismatic gimmicks such as these and am looking for a collector who wants it. I like straight bullion.... I dont buy SAE's for numismatic value.

How many rules are you planning to break in this single thread?

    1) swearing, 2) posting in the wrong section of the forum and 3) wanting to trade. Mamma mia.

the trading/selling thing was a (semi) joke :eat:

...And it was probably a good idea to edit that "word" out of my OP, even though I subdued it with dollar signs.... its best to get rid of anything associatied with that sign, economically speaking.

Mama said there'd be days like this, hey that sounds like good lyrics for a song. :D Yes I knew that would happen and even said so in this thread. I'm glad I bought a 2009 unc a few days before the mint broke their bad news. I forget how much I paid for it but I think it was $17. whew!! Just got under the wire on that one! :high5:

I have to agree... I just sold a non-coin item (a 1970's photograph) that was worth ten bucks at the most... for $1,501.99. The craziest thing that has ever happened to me in eleven years on eBay. I was the one who took the photo, so it wasn't some famous photographer! Supposedly a movie producer that wanted the picture for a documentary he's making on the history of Polaroid. The transaction completed without a hitch. Now I feel guilty, and I'm trying to decide if I should return most of his money (less fees and shipping)... even if he does have more money than brains.

I guess that I can fathom that some movie producer wanted the pic for a documentary, but who was bidding against him/her? I'd keep the money and buy a 1909S VDB with it.

Depending on how he uses your image, he most likely made out like a bandit. He will make his money of your image, you can be sure of that. If you had licensed the image instead of sold it outright you could have made 5-10 times more. Now if you see it on poster or billboard, you might not be able to sue.
