I think I'll go for the little eagle. They have been distinguished representatives of our fight for liberty and much more, in our history. He may be small on the cent, but he's a mighty powerful symbol of this nations strengths. I'll take the eagle any time.

I agree with you Bruce but I think the flag or possibly the shield will be the one they choose :)

That's because when Coin World announced it they used the headline

"Flag design chosen for 2010 cent"

But you had to read the article to find out that the flad design had been chosen by one of the committees, not by the Secretary of the Treasury. Everyone saw the headline and jumped to the wrong conclusion. Frankly it has been so long since the committees have made their choices with no final choice announced I have to wonder if the Secretary thinks it's a done deal.

.......you're right, a lot of conclusion jumpin' going on. there also was some discussion on changing the OBVERSE also but i've heard no conclusion on that subject either. i guess we'll know when they start minting them.

This editorializing has no place here. I disagree with your statement, rooted as it is in political partisanship and sour grapes. You don't like those two on US coins for one reason and one reason only.

According to Dave Harper of Numismatic News the new 2010 Lincoln Penny (Cent) design will be unveiled in Washington D. C. on Nov. 12 , 2009 , when they release the final Lincoln Cent LP4. :hatch::hammer:

Kind of funny coming from a resident of the country (Canada) who's mint is issuing a $4 Tyrannosaurus Rex Silver Coin, a 50-cent guitar pick shaped coin (with hologram!), and $15 rectangular card suite coins, among many others, this year alone!

Lol don't get me started on those things:p At least they stay commemorative and don't get released in circulation. Although I must admit I got the $20 coin last year with a snowflake on the coin with a sapphire and swarvarski crystals all over it:whistle: And good luck with the silver and gold commemoratives they have, like thousands upon thousands for like kilo gold coins lol. Pretty hard to try and collect all the Canada commemoratives!

Sapphires & swarvaski crystals , sounds more like a coin made to be worn :p I guess anything goes in Canada :rolling: , gotta admit I don't have anything like that in my collection :smile

I must say, I spent the weekend in Windsor, Ontario, last week, and it was pretty inspiring to receive a Terry Fox dollar coin in change, along with a remembrance poppy quarter.

On the other hand, I just don't see how it is cost-effective to print the Canadian 5 dollar bills with so many security features. They sure look cool, though!

i like half of 18 designs. why not just issue one design per year?.

Actually elaine that is a great idea , never thought of it but I also liked a lot of the designs , the mint could do something different & after minting the different designs let the American People vote on their favorite design , I think you are on to something , why don't the People vote on designs of our coins :high5:

I like LP-14 but would rather see "One Cent" than "1¢"...

Just out of interest what do you think of the nickel, dime & quarter being eliminated also & just going to all paper money , I think it will never happen, at least in my lifetime, I guess I'am wondering why you are so upset with the penny :crying:, remember, if nothing else the U. S. Mint is making lots of money on minting it & the American people are enjoying collecting the penny & that dose not even go into the economic aspects of keeping the 1 Cent in circulation
