    Acodym,
A teller's till is the tray of coins they keep on the counter to conduct business with. If you're good you can look over a counter and see the silver edge on halves quarters and dimes and ask the teller for those coins.

Ok, I've read enough of these posts --- time to visit a couple of banks.

Seems like $.50, $.05 and $.01 are the choice denominations to search???

That is an unbelievable amount of silver, Erin. I would just like to hit double-digit silver in a box sometime.

By the way, I hope you weren't watching that plastering the Aggies took vs. Arkansas Saturday.

    My condolences.

P.S. The bank I dump in had an interesting malfunction in their coin sorting machine. I was dumping in an icecream bucket of halves when the machine froze. A teller came over and cleaned the sensor. As he did this, I looked at the receipt the machine had kicked out. To my surprise, the machine had been counting all the Kennedys as Susie Bs - and crediting me with a dollar for each one! Being a sort of goodie-two-shoes I pointed this out to the teller. He immediately shut the machine down. He sat there and helped me roll about $470 in halves! Nice kid. I had PLENTY of time to look over his till while we were doing this. He had a '61 Quarter which he sold me. He said it was a leftover from some older gentlemen who had just brought in over $300 in silver quarters. Sadly he had already sold them to someone else. Now that would have been a lucky find...well I guess it was for somebody... I think I could have dredged up $300 to buy 1200 silver quarters!

Found a Full Roll of Wheaties

I stop by the Bank today and pick up $10.00 worth for cents and was very surprise on the last roll. The frist $9.50 was nothing to talk about just a few S MM, 1-44D and a lot of beat up coins. The last four rolls were wrap in the same rollers and the first three of the four had so many beat up coins I almost did not open the forth roll it was so bad. But I would not be able to sleep knowing there was an unsearch roll of coins in the house, so I opened it and found the following.

    29-1940's
    14-1950's
    1-1943 D
    3-1930's
    2-1920's
    And 1-1953 D-1MM-001

Half way thru my 2 boxes of halves and I had to come on CT and ask:

Theres a coin elf out there that marks his territory isnt there?

What the heck are the black marker dots on Kennedys ear???
I there someone or some method that uses a permanent black sharpie to "mark" specific coins?
I'm seeing it on 74D's (I guess for double die), and some erratic 80's and 90's.

But the thing is that some of the marked/ruined halves are exceptional???

I don't get it, maybe an oldtimer that doesnt want to cover the same trail twice.

Thanks for any info or can anyone relate?

BTW- What are the specific errors/doubling/special halves that everyone searches for???

Awesome! Why is the good stuff always in the last box? I guess so if the good stuff came first, we would expect more. Congrats.

Excellent starting point, then just go with what you like.
Which will probably be EVERYTHING for a few weeks till you settle in with a fave.
Order a box of halves and work on cents and nickles till they arrive.
    Just a thought.
don't forget wrappers and tubes, you'll always run out.
