I have a 1967 US quarter that has the George Washington head upside down on the backside. I am from Canada and do not know if that is normal or not. Can anybody tell me if it is worth anything?

If it's a faint outline of Washington's head w/ the normal reverse also present, it's likely a die clash. If it is Washington's head and looks similar to the obverse w/ no normal reverse details, it could be a magician's coin (2 headed coin made from 2 genuine quarters). Like Miss Sasha says, would be helpful to post a pic if you can.

I would post a pic, but it would do no good.... You could only see one side at a time, so the effect of the upsidedowness wouldn't work. What I'm saying is if you look at the eagle side, then flip the coin, the head is upside down. I checked all my other quarters and if you do the same, the head is right way up.

Sounds like you're describing a 180 degree rotated reverse. Not sure how common/rare this is with Washingtons though.

I really have no idea either... I just joined this site so I could ask someone to see if they knew. Thanks for the help on this, and if you hear anything about please let me know.

Look up comparable ongoing and finished auctions on Ebay for starters, to see if there's any price premium and demand.

Then, try auction houses that deal with errors.

How would you describe the coin while searching? I was kind of confused with the language used here(obverse?).

That's normal if you consider the Eagle to be the Obverse. It's worth about dollar...Canadian.

    There's a '66 listed but no '67.

It might be very scarce or it could be a fake. Look for a very faint line all the way around the inside of rim on either side.

Your referring to coin as opposed to medal alignment???

Maybe post a pic with a mirror behind it. The front and reverse SHOULD be the opposite. If they are both "right side up" then it is a 180* rotated die OR machined and glued back together by some bored prankster.

If you hold a Canadian coin face up with your fingers at the top and bottom, when you spin it the back side is also upright. US coins are the opposite - the front and back go different directions. So, yes, the quarter is normal, and no, it is only worth about 26 cents Canadian.

What your seeing is called "coin alignment." US coins are minted such that if you hold the obverse of the coin (Washington side) upright and turn it to the over to the side (right or left)...the reverse will be upside down. Canadian coins have "metal alignment" such that if you hold the obverse upright and turn the coin over the side...it will be right side up. This is normal.
