Hey everyone! I picked this note up at a coin show over the weekend. I thought it was pretty neat even if the condition isnt the best lol. Looks like it was folded weird for a long time to get that dirt design on it. Anyways does anyone have any info on this note? Is Chihuahua a state that issued these notes or is it like an american obsolete, any info would be appreciated, thanks!
North49guy... I love the Mexican notes but afraid I cant offer much info...sorry! I am sure Daggarjon, De Orc or Urban will be around soon...these guys are the ones I know that have these notes and sure they will help you out! Like I said..I love em...post those larger images!! Regards, RickieB
here is some info on Chihuahua Mexico: The State of Chihuahua Chihuahua is a land of magnificent scenery --mountains, canyons, deserts and fresh, clean, clear air. Its spectacular canyons are the biggest in North America. Within the canyons are beautiful waterfalls, one of which is the highest in Mexico. Chihuahua also contains fertile valleys--orchards and crop fields that were coaxed from the desert by the persistence of hardworking, warm, and loyal people. The state of Chihuahua is located in the north of Mexico, on the Northwest Central Plain. It is bordered to the north and northeast by the United States, to the west and south by the state of Sonora, and to the southeast by the state of Sinaloa. Chihuahua covers a surface area of 244,938 square kilometers, making it the largest state in Mexico. here is a cool link to many other types of mexican notes. http://abnharmerauctions.com/mexicobanknotes.aspx more info on the mexican banking system http://www.jdwjme.com/mexrev/index_files/Page527.htm i guess you would consider them as obsoletes. i have a few myself. i dont have the 10 pesos but i do have these
Thats what I like about PM @ CT...just ask and poof! There's some help! Excellent notes Urban! :thumb: RickieB
Larger pics are up! Thanks for the great info urban, nice notes there aswell! Thanks for the comments as always RickieB!
Really nice notes Urban and the note of your North49 is a keeper. I would love to have something like that... Congrats
looks alike a tri-fold note. a note, folded in half, then each half back on itself, would give that 3 fold design. Then have the note sit in a persons wallet for a couple decades lol what you get is a very clean middle half, and two dirty outter halfs. some nice notes, dirty ones and all here
Ya I thought so, really weird how it would sit like that for so long lol. Its amazing the stories that all these notes carry around, if only i was a paper-whisperer lol:whistle:
north49guy, the Chihuahua 10 pesos notes all have the same date but some where issued in 1914, January 1915 and June 1915. The note that you have Series D was issued in 1914. Some of the 1914 notes where hand signed. The signature to the left and right of the notes would be hand signed and the one in the middle would be printed. Other notes would just have printed signatures. Your note has the printed version. Some of these notes have blank backs. As for the seals on the reverse they could be red circular, red scalloped, black scalloped, or dark blue scalloped. Your note catalog number would be #S533 c. 1914 10 Pesos small black printed signatures at left and right. Red circular treasury seal on back. VG 2.00, VF 6.00 & Unc 12.00. Nice revolutionary note. :smile Lou
