Can you identify each of these US coins? We once had fun with a post called “eye-dentify this coin” You can see the old post here http://www.cointalk.com/t57318/ and have fun with it again. In this post, see if you can identify the coin and the designer based upon the photo of the designer’s initials. You have seen these initials over & over but can you identify the coin series & remember the designer’s name? I found a couple of them were pretty tough to ID and I’m the one that took the pictures. There is no prize (other than bragging rights), it is just for fun. Good luck identifying the six coins in each photo. & PLEASE POST YOUR PHOTOS DEPICTING OTHER DESIGNER INITIALS Very best regards Collect89
Let me apologize in advance for some of the photos. Many of my better condition and proof manufacture coins are in the safe deposit boxes. I basically went through my Dansco 7070 album for most of these pictures.
All coins depicted are regular issue circulating US coins except for the last four which are commemorative coins. If you can recognize those last four (15, 16, 17, & 18) without a catalog you are either super genius or you spend too much time staring at cool coins (maybe both).
1.Charles Barber-Barber half 2.John Flanigan-Washington quarter 3.John Sinnok-Franklin 4.Anthony de Francisci-Peace dollar 5.George Morgan-Morgan dollar 6.Adolph Weinman-Merc dime 7.James Longacre-IH cent 8.Victor David Brenner-wheatie 9.Herman McNeil-SLQ 10.Adolph Weinman-walking liberty 11.Frank Gasparo-Lincoln memorial reverse 12.John Sinnok-Rosie 13.James Fraser-buffalo nickel 14.? 15.? 16.? 17.? 18.? Thats all I can come up with.
You only get an A (not an A+) because I photographed the Barber quarter not a half. My proof halves are at the bank. I would have gotten every one that you did except my spelling of their names would have been off. Thanks for playing & I hope everyone has fun trying to figure them all out. BTW, #14 is a regular issue coin but you don't find too many coins dated 1976 in circulation today. Hint. Hint.
#14 is the $1 Ike Bicent DRW = Dennis R Williams #15. Don Troiani / T. James Ferrell -- 1995 Civil War Battlefield Preservation commem. #16. RTL Richard T LaRoche / John Mercanti -- 1994 World Cup Half Dollar #17. T. James Ferrell -- #18. William Cousins --
