Here's a 100 rupiah note from Indonesia. The date on the note show as 1992 on the top right but on the lower right below the 100 is the printers name with the year the note was actually printed (PERUM PERCETAKAN UAGAN RI IMP. 1996). Sailboat Pinisi on the obverse and the volcano Anak Krakatau on the reverse of the note. If you look closely you can see a sailor climbing the ladder on the sailboat. Lou
nice note - and yes, you can see a guy climbing up the mast lol somethign like that is why i love alot of the worlds vingettes! They can put alot of detail into the design! And when you can see a person climbing the ladder like onthis note -- small details like that add alot of depth to the vingette IMHO Are these notes part of that large lot you recently won?
LSM...another beautiful note!! With it getting colder here in the North East... that sailing Ship makes me want to go South!! Nice note...keep it going :thumb::thumb:
The island on the back is Krakatoa which blew itself up in 1883 with one of the most powerful vocanic eruptions in history. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krakatoa
DJ, I also like to check for the small details on some of these foreign notes. It makes these notes very interesting. I purchased these notes last Saturday locally from a dealer I been doing business with for about 15 years. I purchased 57 notes from her and some other notes from another dealer last Thursday. Lou
Good job lettow. I was wondering who would recognize The Krakatoa Volcano. It wreaked allot of havoc around the world back in 1883. :thumb: Lou
Famous people and places on notes is another of the areas I collect. I have had one of these in my collection for a long time.
