Genuine or Fake? I enlarged the areas where I am questioning...plmk what you think. If this isn't fake, this has some major die breaks:

    And my major concern:

I am terrible at authenticating coins so I will let someone else do that. What I will say is that the die crack is different than it is on my 1922-D Peace Dollar. The crack should cross the Y at the top not the bottom. I searched about 50 or so on Heritage and every one with die cracks looked like mine. Here are photos of my NGC MS65 1922-D Peace.

What I don't understand is this. If you were going to counterfeit a Peace Dollar, why on earth would you pick the 1922-D?

I don't think it is fake, the reverse rim scared me, and made me not 100% sure. But comparing it to your rim (as it is almost the same) I feel fine.

I haven't attributed it to a VAM yet. Is it possible that it could just be a die break, and not a VAM? or would all of the die breaks occur like yours?

thanks for the help so far.

Looks like those die cracks in those areas are fairly common on 22D's. One thing I noticed was the eye, it looks like a thin die gouge, which would match VAM 1F (Spiked eye). Unfortunately there are no pics on VAMworld.

Is the mark on the eye just a hit, or is it raised like a die gouge?

It has to be real. I picked up a 1922 peace dollar this weekend that looks exactly like yours. I found this forum by doing a search to see if there were any other coins like mine when I found this forum. Mine is alittle more worn that your coin, but the crack is identical! Have you found any more information about this series?
