Low life caught A person was caught in my area for getting into homes and taking coin collections. In the report, he stated he would join coin forums and would figure out which members lived within a 25 mile area of him. When he was cought, he had a list with collectors names on it.
Do you know how many collections he stole? This is a case where I hope the guy gets some serious time in prison, and not just probation or somethin.
I do not know much. The person was caught today. A list was also found of the forums he was on. I still have a family member on the PD and two friends that are with the BCI. I'm might be be able to get some info.

Scary! Wondering how he got everybody's real names. I'd assume some sort of a contest/free giveaway. If it looks to good to be true, it probably is.
Glad they got him. Scum like that....Well, let me just say, "who says cruel and unusual punishment!" I use my real name on the various forums, I always have, but I don't use my home address for coin stuff. I think, when the info comes out, his real name and user names should be posted on the forums he was on, as well as his email address and mailing address. I think we all know he is not going to get thrown in jail for life for this, and criminals aren't the most honest people of cource, so I could see him doing this again.
This is why I don't like telling anyone outside of family and work colleagues that I collect coins. The best defence is for other people to be ignorant...
wow, looks like no more contest's for me, if that's way that person got address to steal peoples coins.
If its who I think it is, he was a mod on three forums and was booted from two of them. I will not state a name just in case its not who I think it is. I live in a very small town were this all happened, so its not hard to figure out who's who, and who has what.
After there were several brake-ins around my neighborhood I made a point do some protecting here. Inexpensive alarm and cameras, I hope that does it.
I hope the police notified the people on the list so that they know thier locations have been compromised. He might have friends with a copy of the same list.
All my coins go into a safety depoist box when I'm traveling. My home has very good windows (a ball bat will not shatter them), and out swinging steel shell doors with a solid hard wood core, with dead bolts. I also have a dog that will tare you a new one if I command him to. If I could turn my home into a bank vault, I would.
There are a few good friends on this forum that know were I live, and I would like to keep it that way. I do not want to come across as a a$$, but I do like to keep were I live to myself. Hope you understand my point of view.
This story was featured on ABC New's Nightline just last night, YouTube Proves Worth as Crime-Fight Tool (video at the link on the ABC page.)
I hate to say it but something like what you reported to us on here will make it to the media and the thing that the news reports tend to list first is the city and state of where this activity was happening. You started this thread so I think that the least you could do is tell us the state and the region of where this guy was caught. Example: Instead of saying Parker, Colorado, just say Denver. This will make all of those who don't live in the area feel much more at ease, myself included.
