Sure looks fake to me, like an altered 44-d. I wouldn't bid on it.

It is a fake and it has been reported.

Looks like a definite 1944-D cent to me

Another fake 14D! Wow, it has to be the most popular fake on ebay. I've seen several over the past couple of years. It is just too easy to convert a 44D to a 14D.

The easiest way to confirm its a fake is to look for the VDB under the shoulder.
A real 14D wont have any initials.

Unless the 44-D did not have any initials (it happens) or they have been removed. In this case, it is so obvious, you do not need to even look for the VDB.

That's the most obvious 44D/14D fake I've seen in a long time.

The first 4 can still be seen with the naked eye, yet it still has 8 bidders already. Sad.

Antique Treasure Hunters, of which that seller is a single Hydra-Head, is a group that in my opinion has been up to a lot of suspicious activity for a long time. Other appendages include ebay sellers iago741, troilus691, and feste.622.

I also posted this item to the Coin Forgery eBay Group for their attention.

That did not take long. eBay has pulled it already.

I never got a chance to see the coin (thankfully eBay pulled it), but I do not touch any raw key coins on eBay with a 10-foot-pole.

Key coins certified in a PCGS, NGC, ANACS, SEGS, or IGC holder and being sold from a 99.8%+ eBay seller with hundreds of sales behind him or her are a very different story.....

Please, everybody -- when buying from eBay, stick to certified! You'll be glad you did ;-)
