It's simple, see a penny and pick it up and you are earning a prorate of $18 an hour. Estimating that it takes you 2 seconds to pick up the penny, (.01 X 30 X 60 = 18) 1 penny times 30 groups of 2 seconds in a minute times 60 minutes gives you your prorated pay for your effort of picking up the penny. Yes, I do have to much free time at work and I definitely pick up every penny I can find Because I only earn .0061 cents every 2 seconds that I work.
Your statistics are flawed. You forgot that first you notice a penny on the ground, stare at it wondering if it really is a coin, then you bend over to pick it up. Now, pending on your height, weight, health conditions, you could take as long as 30 seconds to pick up that coin. Now too, if you should fall during this episode, break a finger of wrist, end up in the hospital emergency ward, pay a few hundred or more in hospital costs, then where is that $18/hour? Of course someone with a sence of humor could have placed that penny there with a drop of glue on it so you now break a finger nail trying to pick it up. And you still don't get that coin so now where is that $18/hour? This morning I found a Nickel on the ground and it took me time to notice it, wonder if real, bend over to pick it up. Probably about 45 seconds. HMMM, so how does that add up?
It really took you 45 seconds to look at a nickel, see that it was indeed a nickel, and then bend over to pick it up? stainless
Yeah, but you didn't figure in taxes. Now you're only making $7.50 an hour, and thats hardly worth bending over for. Guy~
I found a $50 bill on the ground once. I assure you, it took me far less than 2 seconds to recognize it and snatch it up (although, in interest of fairness, I did spend a few moments surveying the landscape, trying to determine if anyone dropped it.) Imagine my hourly rate! I'd do that all day long...
This actually reminds me of an Awesome story:thumb:, I was crossing the street to work a few weeks ago and noticed a quarter sitting in a lane, but there was a lot of cars and I was running late. So on my lunch break I went that way for lunch and it was still there so i waited till there was enough time to safely run out and grab it. Low and behold, I get out there and it is paved into the road and I had to run before the next wave of traffic came to the light,,, I was soooo sad:bigeyes::headbang:
I would have to say, that besides that quarter that was stuck, It has never taken me longer than 2 seconds to spot a coin and pick it up and a fraction of a second more to safely tuck it in my pocket as away I go. LOL.
This reminds me of a story I heard about Bill Gates. When he was at his height of wealth, he was making so much money that it would cost him money to stop what he was doing to pick up a $100 bill. That is amazing in my opinion. John
I would believe that to be a myth. He would have to be earning $180,000 Every Hour to make a $100 every 2 seconds
