coins in the future. This is a nightmare I've been having for several reasons. This post is not about FAKE COINS but the U. S. Gov. for financial reasons transfering all new coin minting to China. With all the outsourcing this Countrys been doing for the last several years its a definite possibility in the near future. I know that this is a sick scenario & a bitter pill to swallow but it is very possible. Think about all the silver & gold China has been buying up in the last few years & stock piling it. With our NATIONAL DEBT skyrocketing and much of that owed to China I think it is a huge possibility, as sick as it sounds who knows what the U. S. Gov will do to lower our National debt. This is just a thought & I would like to know what you folks think about this scenario & the possibilty of it happening.
China is a big economy and a definate challenge to our world power. We will never transfer the minting to them though. We won't allow our commerce, banking, or minting to get outsourced. It is like transferring our military mite to another country. It is the nail in the coffin. By the way, I think we're a little paranoid about China overtaking us as a major power. It isn't going to happen in my lifetime and I plan to live for another couple of decades. I visited them last year and they have their issues. They have a ways to go to beat us.;
This is much more reasonable than the alarmist OP, IMHO. Gross Domestic Product, per capita (adjusted for purchasing power parity) - 2008, all values in USD USA: $46,900 EUROPEAN UNION: $33,700 CHINA: $6,000 Source: CIA World Factbook https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/index.html
when it's involving coins? I think knowing where minting of U.S. coins is very important! if china were to become our outsource for minting I would stop buying any U.S. coin for fear of fakes imagine a American Silver Eagle being made of base metal with a silver bath? YUCK!
Well, according to my gardner's 8-year-old daughter, it's time to quit buying - or using - US coinage, because it's all been produced in Middle Earth for the past 50 years! I assure you that my disclosed source is at least as reliable as the OP's undisclosed one.
I'm with hontonai. Let's look at declining levels of paranoia and absurdity : STAGE 1 RIDICULOUS : Acting like Chicken Little, and getting overly worried about things that are actually happening. STAGE 2 RIDICULOUS : getting overly worried about things that are NOT happening. STAGE 3 RIDICULOUS : getting overly worried about things that are not happening, and there is no indication they ever will happen. No need for nightmares.
i love to see an u.s. coin made in china. many collectors will against it and not buying it. man. it might be a really rare one. i take one. in china we trust.
If you have a source for this, please share it. If you are just sitting their dreaming up things to worry about, there are people who specialize in helping with that sort of problem.
This is a discussion on minting U. S. Coins or who might be minting the U. S. coins in the future, absurdity , not hardly , did you ever think China would be given such a big slice of the American pie , it now has that http://goldnews.bullionvault.com/gold_china_dollar_060220092
I hope that means you're not taking the content of that story you linked seriously. I mean c'mon - what would you expect a guy who mines gold for a living to say - that gold is going to go down ?? As for the gold in China, again is that really unexpected ? It's been what, 2 years since China made it legal for their citizens to own gold. Do you think they would really allow their people to buy all that gold from other nations. Or would they not be likely to acquire the gold themsleves so they could sell it to their own people and make the profits instead of somebody else making those profits. So of course they are buying gold. Gold bugs and silver bug writers alike have been writing this stuff since the '60s. Do you know why ? Because they make money off of doing so. because they know they can capitalize on people's fears. It seems that many are always decrying this conspiracy or that conspiracy, always claiming that the world as we know it is gonna end, or some such nonsense. But do ya know what really bugs me ? What really bugs me is that people, supposedly intellignet people, can buy into this drivel that is written about gold & silver. Don't people realize that those who are driving you to do this by writing this nonsense are playing you like a fiddle - all the way to the bank. It's truly sad.
So did SSI , but believe me I hope & pray you are correct , look this is just a post on economics geared towards the minting of U. S. coins in the future, nothing more or nothing less
Even if by some fluke this did happen, it's nothing new. Most countries don't mint their own coins. The US Mint mints coins for dozens of countries. In fact, most of the world's coins are minted by three mints...The US Mint, The Royal Canadian Mint, and the Pobjoy Mint in England. So, really, whats the point? Guy~
coleguy is right. let's let china mint it for us. it will be the cheapest cost and maximum quality obtain. "made in china" on every edge of the coin. mint mark are S for shanghai. B for beijing and G for guangzhou.
Can you imagine a US coin with the "E PLURIBUS UNUM" replaced with "MADE IN CHINA"? Dunno why but the first thing that came to mind was Doc Leonard McCoy's phrase..."MY GOD MAN!
I can't believe I just read this whole thread ! and now I'm writing about it , where's the guys in the white coats you can come get me now . rzage
