I bought my first Japan note from a WINS auction a few months back. I had not been able to add the note to the site until tonight. I really like this note I also added several notes from Kazakhstan . I was able to obtain all these notes from a member on this forum, and have finally been able to post them to the site. Thanks for looking!
This is a very nice example of a Bank of Japan note, known as the "3rd Wake" (pronounced Wa-kay), #11-55 in the Japanese Numismatic Dealers Association catalog. The 1st Wake had a different reverse, and the 2d Wake had 6-digit black serial numbers in the upper left and lower right corners and single-digit series numbers in the other two corners. As pictured it's a ¥3,500-4,500 (~38-49) item. The stain on the reverse probably pushes it toward the low end of the range.
DJ.... I like that Japanese note...if you look at the symbols that start and end the SN you will see the influence of the American Bank Note Company...many U.S. Large Size notes have the same symbol as well as may others. The other notes are vivid in color and pretty cool as well.! And you already know that your site is one of the best ones around :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: Regards, RickieB
Thanks for the comments everyone i really appreciate them!!! So, i gather i got the attribution correct? lol that doesnt happen to often especially with the oriental notes. i usually miss somethign lol I picked this note up for $25 +s/h
Nice note! It is interesting -- The man on the note looks more Western than Japanese. A friend gave me my first Japanese note a few days ago.
