Ah. Well that's understandable, then. So it has to be this type. And in light of that, having to overpay a bit to get a nice one might not matter so much, since it's a gift, and it's the love that counts, not the money. But I'd haggle as much as you could with Best Offer if you're going after the coin linked in the original post. Because you're gonna be paying too much, regardless. But at the price of delighting your father, maybe that's worth it. There's nothing wrong with the coin itself- just the price. And it has a TrueView, so you could take the max-resolution version of that (look on the cert page- they're pretty darn big at max res!), and have that printed out for the wall.
Yeah - he is just not willling to come down low enough to make it work. He is not going below $125.00 - so I looked at this one instead https://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-So-Ur...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 - for $50.00 plus shipping and tax. But I see another one that is a raw coin for cheap
https://www.ebay.com/itm/URUGUAY-10...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 - looks cleaned and damaged
I wouldn't use that seller under any circumstances. Almost everything looks massively overpriced and they clearly specialise in nasty fake toning.
Your are probably right and I just fell into his trap. I am truly sick of dealing with shaddy dealers this week. https://www.ebay.com/itm/273543862248 this coin was supposed to be an MS65, and it ended up being a cleaned coin. I didn't even know it was the same dealer. When I found out, he vanished. Maybe he will make good. Now, I am going to have to go to my parents to get them to reverse the order from the bank, since it is on their card. I am just trying to do a good deed here.
That's a pity. I'd open an "item not as described" case - it seems to me that ebay sides with the buyer on most occasions. Make sure you hit them with (honest) negative feedback too.
I can not tell if these are cleaned or not. I can tell with Morgans and other coins. But this coin seems to escape me. The flat devices seem to make a lot of noise on the surface.
He cancelled the order, so that is good. But now I have a delemia. His business dealings can use some improvement
