Please do not hate me for this post any more than i already hate my self. About 35 plus years ago when I was young and leading a life that was not exactly pristine, my cousin and I went into my grandmothers house when she was on vacation. We found a jar full of silver dollars, that I now know were morgans that she had in a closet. There were probably thirty plus of them in the jar. We snuck them home to my house and went down in our old basement and hid them behind a brick in the basemement wall that was loose. We left them there and 2 years later our house burnt down, and we built a new one on the same site. though it was moved forward quite a bit. I forgot about this for 30 years or more till I started talking to people about coin collecting and metal detecting. This is the exact thing that people look for when detecting, a jar full of 100+ year old morgans hidden behind a loose brick!!!:rolling::rolling:
Go back to the house and dig! My GF sister used 1oz silver rounds to buy smokes at a rate of 1 to $1 last year. A 1 gal. ziplock baggie full stolen from her mom.
Wow! I don't hate you. People make mistakes. Its unfortunate that you didn't think about it when the new house was being built. Those coins could be long gone by now, either found by a construction worker or burying under the new home.
Ah, look at it as a learning experience that you can and have shared with others. I always remind my children that every action has a consequence, sometimes not immediately but much later on.
It was wrong to steal them 35 years ago so to be denied them today is more than fair. Deciet should never be rewarded. Make sure the learning experience gained from this is that it's wrong to steal and not so much that you need to remember where you hide the loot.
