I thought I heard that there wasn't any mint sets made for 1982-83 but maybe it's proof sets that were'nt made.
Someone will come up and correct me for sure. Maybe already did. :hail:

That's a souvenir set. They were sold at the mints gift shops. Not called a mint set.

Annual "mint sets" include coins from all mints producing circulation coins that year. The last year to include S coins, before San Francisco converted to proof production only, was 1981. (In 1996 a W dime was also included.)

There were no "mint sets" in 1982 or 83 only Proof Sets and "Uncirculated Souvenir sets" from both philadelphia and Denver mints.

Yep, that's correct. One thing to add, I believe these Souvenir Sets can be quite desirable.

Yes, the Red Book has them listed at $45 to $80 each.

A Mint Set contains one coin from each mint struck for circulation, plus usually a little plastic or metal cent sized token identifying the mint. They contain two pliofilm packets one with a blue edge and one with a red edge. (This is a general rule for sets after 1958 an there are some exceptions)

A Souvenir set contained only one packet with just the coins struck at the mint where the set was sold. Plus it has a large, near dollar sized, brass medal of the mint it was sold at. (You could not buy Denver sets in Philadelphia or vice versa.) They were intended to be purchased at the mint gift shop as a souvenir of your visit and were not sold on the mint mailing list.

There were no 1982 or 83 Mint Sets, but there were Souvenir sets. There were Souvenir sets for many other years as well (something like a 20+ year period.) While the mint sets have "high" mintages with the lowest still being close to a million sets, the Souvenir set mintages were much lower, often just a few thousand sets.

As to value, APMEX has them listed at--
    82P $44.99
    82D $49.99
    82 P&D $94.99

    83 P&D $89.99
So if you have one, hang on to it. Not bad for a $4 for each set investment.
