If you had the opportunity to go back in time too speak directly to the designer of any coin and could change one (and only one) characteristic of any coin, what would it be? Why? I would have made the eagle on the Morgan dollar more muscular thus making it more Fierce.
I would like them to make the nickel the same size of the old "half dime" and keep it the same thickness as the current nickel.
Sort of the same thing I've always hated about out coins. I would like to have them all graduated by size. The larger, the more it's worth.
That would be kind of nice today as they are all basically made out of the same thing and thus the intrinsic metal value has nothing to do with the face value. I understand why they were sized like they are originally...but it is obsolete.
Most of the older coinage I like just fine, maybe the eagle on the bust dollar was a bit scrawny. But the coin that someone should have gotten changed was the sba dollar, different size, different color, and why did they have to make her look like such a witch?
I think the image of her is quite accurate based on photos I have seen. She was a great person in American history but she was not a beautiful woman by today's standards. I have no problem with her being put on a coin for the things she did...but it is a rather unattractive design. What is really sad is there was a beautiful Liberty Dollar design that was rejected in favor of the SBA. I doubt it would have been popular in circulation because it resembled a quarter in size and color (like the SBA)...but it was a beautiful design.
